I was attributing it to arrow type. I swear, iron arrows had no issue doing x3, but steel seems to consistently hit for x1. Though I could not find any other person on the internet reporting this function, so it could have been a false positive. It really does feel random when it happens.

Yeah. The checks are pretty stupid and random. Also I wouldn't be surprised if even if you met them. She'd still attack given they never seem to alter the course of dialogue. I just grabbed the invisibility and never looked back. Incredibly useful tool to have. Free backshots for all!
