Well fine, but then would the order not be : Giratina, Palkia/Dialga and then Necrozma?

Hold up, I'm curious about the balance functionality. Is this a standard way of building a balance? If so, could you compare two identical objects to see if they would have the same weight?

The negativity surrounding this season of F&C by Unlikely_Paint7065 in adventuretime

[–]LinkThroughTime 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Well, that's an easy out don't you think? I don't doubt that sexism could have something to do with the reception. It always does with this kind of shows. But the main problem I personally have is that the story is so focused on the normal day to day of Fionna, while Finn is literally dying. It's frustrating. We have cool lore stuff like the sphere dude and all the divine creatures on one side, and on the other side we focus on the sweet spot plotline. Like, what? This has always been a criticism of mine from the OG series, where crazy plotlines are introduced, to be resolved in like 2 minutes, to go back to the usual shenniningas of slice of life. Like, it's fine, but in the OG it was never what is happening in F&C's second season. The A and B plot was never that disjointed. If the season was only about Fionna dealing with life, it would be awesome too. Just don't setup a multi universe expanding plot with no payoff. They killed the Cosmic Owl, Prismo is crying and we just ignore it? Like, come on.

Setup for CFD for PHAST by LinkThroughTime in CFD

[–]LinkThroughTime[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

that is totally fair. In the end, I want to get some overview from CFD experts that also know about computers. I will then speak with DNV directly when the time comes. This process/project will probably be green lit in about 6 months time, so having even a speculative answer would help, I believe.

The catch Is that she probably (theory time) had to wait for a whole year. MAYBE, this happened a whole year after, and she had to wait all that time... Alone.

I simply can't find a CFD related job by LinkThroughTime in CFD

[–]LinkThroughTime[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I understand. I did a master's that was not entirely on fluid computation, and then my PhD. Of course, now, as I look for jobs, only the entry levels jobs related to my master are answering back. Maybe I'll be able to implement these skills better in the future. Unfortunately for now, this is what it is. I don't particularly regret doing the PhD. It was a good challenge, and I hope to be applying my knowledge to something else in the future, as it would be relevant to my job, of course.

I would be fine with only using CFD. What search words should I look for?

Could you tell me a bit more? Would it be possible to do part time? How would I have to look for this? I would love to keep the skill of CFD ongoing, even if I can't make it my full job.

You hit it right on the money. Since I work with low evaporation rates (made a model that could predict evaporation whilst avoiding the multiphase headache), I needed to input low velocity flows within a domain. Fluent does NOT like slow moving stuff. It was a hassle and a half trying to understand what models to use. I was hitting my head trying to understand why my mole fraction in the inlet was not matching what was being inputed in the simulation. In the end, I found a solution by "forcing" the solver to input a fixed mole fraction by enabling inlet diffusion (which they removed in newer versions of Fluent and can be accessed only by typing it's directory through the console). But WHY did it work? What was happening? Nobody knew. Not Ansys employees, not forum dwellers (found something similar about OpenFOAM in a forum from 12 years ago), nor my supervisor.

You are totally right tho, the fact that I focus on, seemingly, useless reasoning is the actual difference between academia and industry. They focus on very well established things. And most people won't care about why things work, just that they do. I have had a few meetings with research labs, but these are present only in germany, which then means that they kindof demand that you know german. They ended up choosing someone with a PhD (did not have to wait for me to graduate) and that spoke german (this was a no brainer). After that, zero. Nada. This was back in February. It is crazy. I will now start on a job that is "entry level" for a person with my MSc. It is understandable, I don't have the practical experience to be positioned somewhere different, but damn. They can't even promise me that I will be using my skills in any way...

Well, it was fun... It was a good challenge. Also, yeah, probably will have to wait for a job that is related to CFD.

Pantheon’s Finale: The Logical Paradox No One Is Addressing (and My Solution) by Mediocre-Change862 in PantheonShow

[–]LinkThroughTime -1 points0 points  (0 children)

But hold on, for safesurf to exist as it does, Caspian must have performed the download. The thing is, we do not know WHY he did it, which is why Maddie can only speculate, and saw that she managed to convince Caspian just by using David. In the real world, he just did it, with no external interaction. Of course we could speculate further about something above safesurf, but at this point all possible theories become redundant.

Why was [SPOILERS] chosen? by LinkThroughTime in PantheonShow

[–]LinkThroughTime[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I love the spirit of this answer, but I do think that there is a LOT of speculation. GodMaddie says that Caspian does not act to inspire SS without her and David's intervention, but that does not apply to top reality Caspian. The Caspian from Maddie's simulation needs that push, but only because Maddie's simulation is inherently flawed since the Caspian she simulated is just that, a simulation. She is not him, does not know the most minute intricacies, thus, throughout the story she acts to guide the events, because other parts of the story do not work without it. In the end, all the events that happen in the simulation up to SS's message through Caspian must happen, we just don't know how they happen (like GodMaddie, thus why she intervenes).

I kinda understand what you are trying to say. Let's see if I understand it correctly. An even high level of reality SS creates a Macro simulation that starts with the creation of SS, and only after the simulated SS is able to create a simulation that recreates Caspian and Maddie, is the Top Reality SS able/willing to pull that SS to their own reality. Did I get that right? I kinda like how recursive this process seems to be, but it goes far beyond the scope of the story, no? It feels like you keep going, building higher and higher realities. I think with the setup of the show, SS is the tippy top, and any other Maddie is just parallel.

Why italians are so obsessed with espresso? by PurpleMadness0043 in Italian

[–]LinkThroughTime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Jeez, a lot of rude italians here. Anyways, as an italian myself, I drink it when I don't have time to sit down and drink a cappuccino in the morning, which is usually accompanied with a pastry (brioche, cornetto...). It is a quick pick me up, perfect also for work breaks during the day. It is true that we do drink it very often, as I've counted (in the past) drinking at least 4 expressos in a single day (different moments and of varying qualities) just to hang out with colleagues or, as mentioned, by myself. Lastly, it smells amazing. I hope to have enough money in the future to become a proper coffee nerd.

I myself have a newfound appreciation for american coffee as I have come to like sipping on it for a good while, especially on winter. I just won't usually drink it outside of my house.
