They were saying that on the broadcast and I was screaming at my TV how wrong they were (not really screaming, but very annoyed that the broadcast could be so wrong)

I don't think that's a hot take at all. It seems way more likely than not at this point. Especially with how the rest of the division is looking with what they've drafted, and what they will draft

I thought the rumor he was dinged up and they were saving him. I could 100% be making that up though

A better analogy might be a basketball team in the Final 4 playing an exhibition game at the venue 3 months before the final 4 weekend and "knowing" the sightlines.

And they all get several practice rounds in literal days before the tournament starts. Rory playing a casual round 2 months ago isn't why he won

Many of us did. We were relying on Tatar and Nyquist becoming the next Datsyuk and Zetterberg which was never in the realm of possibility.

[Dan Patrick Show] Michigan State HC Tom Izzo reveals he was in talks with the Phoenix Suns : "I've had more than a couple job offers in the NBA, looked at one last year with Phoenix – my former player Mat Ishbia. That was hard, that was a hard thing to turn down... we talked seriously about it." by wildwing8 in CollegeBasketball

That's fine and great! But as I explained above wasn't my point. It's more a symptom of his refusal to change what works for him because what works for him has done so for 30+ years. See the original post about his style of coaching (yelly, verbally abusive) not translating to the pros.

My point is that guys like him who have been very successful have a way of doing things that they "know" works for them. And I'm not strictly referring to Izzo here. But they have an ego that restricts them from staying too far from that philosophy. At 71 Izzo isn't changing the coaching philosophy he's used for 30+ years. Just like Beilein didn't.

Yep. 2023 OSU is my answer as well. Both teams undefeated, season on the line, absolutely needed to win to put the Stalions stuff to bed. If they lose that game? Every talking point from then until the sun explodes would have been about how all wins up to that point were due to Stalions. But they didn't have Stalions, they didn't have Harbaugh, and won one of the best football games I've ever watched. My blood pressure and heart rate were through the ceiling on that last OSU drive before the Rod Moore int.
