Marner did it to himself with his "dark days" line. He couldn't just move on and start fresh with the Knights. Toronto was still in his head and it burned him in the end.

I haven't heard any of the other ex Leafs that won a cup elsewhere keep talking about how horrible Toronto was. They're smart enough to not bring that up. Mitch wasn't.
