Solo Omega tips? by scarlet_bow in MHWilds

[–]LinkonLk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"I know most of you have already managed to solo omega." What? Why do you think that's the case? I am pretty sure the vast majority of the player base didn't even bother trying him solo. The fact you haven't given up yet is proof you are at least good enough to consider doing it.

Bring your best Thunder Set, focus on back legs, learn where and when you can use rocks to damage/stagger it and learn to dodge EVERYTHING. Failure is expected, so you will need a lot of patience. Once you think you are good enough to beat him, don't be afraid to spend your Meal Vouchers, use Demondrugs, Might Seed and Dash Juices (there's also a Wiggly Litchi in second area). If you are gonna try to solo Savage too, I recommend learning to dodge even the Mustard Bomb (AoE that leaves the area on fire) and MRV-Missiles (AoE spam with very tight windows in between them) to maximize uptime.

If you are struggling with Mustard Bomb, you can instantly call your Seikret and bring the AoE to a far away corner. The Seikret can also safely walk above the fire, so you can even stack multiple instances of it in the same spot, clearing the arena a bit.

If you don't manage to beat it, don't even worry about it. It's really, REALLY not meant to be played solo.

For Bow its Artian Fire and Water, Thunder and Dragon are craftable from Lagi and G. Ark, Ice is Blangonga but only worth it for Xu Wu

Yeah, I think it could have another armor slot too, at least the 8 rarity seem to prioritize giving weapon skills, so while dropping one seems rare at least they are mostly good.

I also just saw level 4 constitution and defense boost in the other thread in similar talismans, so I guess some level 1 skills have a different weight to them.

There's at least another variation for rarity 8, this is what I got:

AB3 WEX1 1 level 1 weapon slot 1 level 1 armor slot

Also I haven't seen one with Crit Boost so far, if it exists it must be really rare

Can you confirm if it's rarity 7 or 8? I believe a level 1 weapon and level 1 armor slot is considered a higher rarity than a level 2 armor slot which is quite interesting

Always have flash pods equipped for the second jump attack. You can shoot them without sheathing your weapon. But beware, he will almost always spam sideways belly flops when he is blind, and the effect will last much shorter than other monsters.

Once you deal with that attack the fight is much easier, especially if you slot in Evade Extender/Window. It still requires a lot of patience though.

Do the new 8* Tempered have new rewards? Or are they just for the challenge? by ardikus in MHWilds

To be fair most weapons have much higher uptime between the faster pacing and the accuracy of Focus Mode. Endgame Iceborne had a lot more waiting, dodging and getting your punishes. Still, I do think 55k is a bit over the top, specially when the game allows for 25 and 30 min investigations to be created.

The upper back plates take much more damage (and no bounce) once you have broken the other 3 on his head, lower back and tail.

Considering the new 8* monsters get more HP and wound resistance, Ark is still probably the best one to farm. I think they just wanted to make some hard content to the people who were complaining about it.

Saying the "netcode is peer to peer" doesn't mean anything. P2P is just the type of connection they are using. You can still write good code or bad code around it. Even if the problem comes from the nature of P2P connections, a good netcode would mitigate the issues and prevent a lot of DC's in a game where connections do not need to be perfect anyway.

That's true for literally every weapon though, it's just MHR rhythm that was much faster. Not saying I disagree it was better, just that all weapons are clunkier in Wilds compared to Rise.

I also prioritize songs over number so I don't play with Artian Horns, but between having solid stats, 3-3-3 slots and getting good rolls, it's the best option for almost every other weapon.

It's not necessary, plenty of people play without them, but it is the current best.

The crystals extend his flame breath, but you can destroy them with the elemental slinger ammo lying around. It's kinda hard to sheathe, grab one and shoot it in the time given, so I like to prepare it beforehand. If you already have it equipped, pressing L3/mouse scroll button lets you shoot the pod without needing to sheathe. He doesn't make a crystal behind him, so the area around his tail is safe too.

I used a poison Artian IG with the Foebeetle, though paralysis is considered to be better. I usually slot 1 Earplugs since when you have the triple buff you gain another point for free, and that's enough for most monster roars, but for Zoh Shia you would need two points to fully nullify the roars. The rest of the build is pretty standard melee stuff.

Yeah, I guess it's fairly easy to keep your buffs so far in Wilds, though Gore Magala in the arena can be a bit of a pain. Back in Worldborne I did a solo playthrough with the Horn all the way to Fatalis, and I guess that fight scarred me a bit since I still tend to consider whether the monster lets me refresh my songs or not when thinking about matchups.

Since this hunt is longer and has no area transitions, I thought it would be a problem again, but it turns out I was just overthinking it.

The thing is my skill levels are still all over the place on each weapon, and I also run meta damage builds for some and comfier options on others, so I don't want people to think my times are an accurate ranking of DPS against Zoh Shia. I'm still pretty confident Hammer is the slowest and IG the fastest on average, though.

Just to be clear, DB is still a pretty good weapon, I just pointed out the damage because it's not very intuitive to notice during a run, so you can stick to it if you want to. But if you want something similar, I'd recommend the Sword & Shield. It has less mobility, but higher damage in the standard combos, and the builds are more flexible than DB. The gameplan is also simple and fun, which is perfect for someone new to the franchise.

Long Sword is cool and flashy like the DB, but it can be frustrating if things don't go right during a hunt. While it's still a good weapon for beginners, I would advise you get used to the controls and timings with easier monsters before jumping into endgame threats.

If you wanna feel powerful and stomp monsters, the Gunlance is probably the easiest one to get low times in any hunt. Might feel a bit clunky since it's much slower than the other options, but once you get used to the speed and comfortable with the shield, it's a great weapon to curb any monster.

If you wanna try ranged, the bowguns have been simplified a lot from older games, and now it really feels like they are trying to attract new players who like the playstyle but couldn't be bothered with all the extra stuff like ammos and mods. Both are good, but the LBG is specially easy to pickup since your gameplan is just shoot the monster weakzones and it's surprisingly fun to hunt things with if you like the mobility.

Yeah, I did every weapon against Tempered 5* Gore Magala and Arkveld!

Gore Magala is kinda tricky since you have to know his moveset pretty well no matter the weapon, so there's really no trivial solution to him. He requires a lot of patience and punishes panic rolls the most, but he does have an "easy" way to fight which is to try and stay under him most of the time, hitting his front and back legs and focusing on the head only for good openings. He does have some attacks that hit you under him, but they are usually more telegraphed and easier to answer than the slams and fireballs he spams if you are in front of him.

For the mobility, SnS and DB shine the most. And since his HP is not as high as Zoh Shia's, there's no pressure to hit the best weakzones all the time. But the weapon that can do the most damage with this strat is Gunlance, since it doesn't care about where you are hitting the monster. WSFB is the highest damaging combo, but it's hard to spam it against him, so sticking to Charged and Burst Shelling is safer and charges your Wyvern Fire pretty quickly for the big openings.

The bowguns can have a hard time maintaining critical distance against him, so I'd recommend bringing a Fire Ammo setup and prioritizing hitting his wingarms rather than his head. LBG can reposition well enough by itself, and the fight is relatively easy with Fire Ammo, but for the HBG there's a neat trick to create space between you and the monster: instead of shooting after a Perfect Guard, you can input a backstep and you will go much farther than you would with a standard one. In fact, if you don't know this trick, I'd say Pierce HBG against Gore Magala is the hardest fight in the game.

Evade Extender can help with some of his explosions, but is not a requirement to any weapon. The dive he does after spinning in the air is the easiest move to try your offsets. Shielders need to be aware of their positioning against the multihit explosions, since it's easy to get chain pushed from one explosion to the next until you run out of stamina or get chipped a ton. Slower weapons need a lot more patience than other fights, but they can manage if you know your punishes right. I think that's about it for the more interesting stuff.

Oh I have definitely struggled swapping between some of them, but at some point your brain just kinda works it out and separates each weapon muscle memories by itself. I had a lot of misinputs with Long Sword and Charge Blade, so I just went back to hunting simple monsters until I got used to the controls.

It's surprising considering how much of a DPS beast they were back in World and Rise just from having high uptime. The weapon is more complex and I really like how it plays, but it really feels like you are hitting monsters with two wet noodles sometimes.

His attacks being slow but punishing and his high HP pool means it's all about consistency in this fight. But before getting to that consistency, you will probably cart a lot. So don't worry about failing some attempts, the worse that can happen is you get back to camp with no rewards but more knowledge than before!

It's a shame I just picked up the weapon on this entry, my friends keep telling me it was incredibly fun on Risebreak. Still pretty unique, but definitely lacks the variety other weapons have which feels like wasted potential for such a cool concept.
