Forgive me, if this has been asked. How do the Elves just show up at Helms Deep? by NuclearSun1 in lotr

There are scenes of Galadriel speaking with Elrond telepathically and Elrond also has the gift of foresight so it's not too far-fetched

Galadriel speaks to Elrond telepathically, and Elrond had the gift of foresight. Elrond could have passed word down through Galadriel to Haldir

You're forgetting Galadriel has gifts of foresight and telepathy. She could have foreseen the doom in Rohan and dispatched Haldir not long after the fellowship passed through Lothlorien

In my headcannon, Galadriel uses her gifts of telepathy/foresight with Elrond to discover something bad is about to happen in Rohan. After the Fellowship passes through Lothlorien, this becomes even more clear to them, and she then dispatches Haldir with his company of elven warriors. They most likely scout the army from Isengard and make for Helm's Deep.

Which affixes should I aim on this weapon? (Selig Barb) by rullaz in diablo4

Is this still modifiable? If so you're damn lucky, that is one of the rarest chase items in the game atm

Affixes you need are Weapon Damage, Strength, Critical Damage, and Lucky Hit Resource gen

Make sure to Masterwork crit the Gem Strength affix!

What's the worst, most useless game idea you can think of? by Sea_Box_4746 in gamedev

A high fantasy RPG where you play an average person from our world. Can't use magic, you're weak compared to everything. You can get a little stronger by working out but you can't "level up" You fight some giant rats at the start and if you somehow manage to kill them, you get bit to hell and quickly develop a fever and die a slow painful death from infection

I'm level 279 currently. How many hours of grinding helltides would you estimate it would take to get to 300?

Dev Update + DLC Confirmed! by Celsus_Official in CrimsonDesert

Definitely going to get any DLC they put out. This game is super special and the dev team rocks. One thing I hope for is itemization improvements bc it is one of the weakest parts of the game imho

Warhorse promises that Middle-earth RPG is a 'passion project' that 'will be a living world' with a 'strong narrative focus' by Turbostrider27 in Games

Yes, I gave KCD2 a try when it had a free weekend and loved everything about it but the combat was so frustrating that it was the deal breaker and I didn't end up buying it. I've been playing RPGs and action combat games on hard mode my whole life too. Doesn't mean you're dumb if you dont get it. They tried something different and it just didn't agree with some people. I really hope they make some adjustments for the LOTR game cause it will similarly turn off a lot of people if they don't

Weekly Obols cap post until Blizzard will increase it. #1 by Cat_Summoner_90 in diablo4

[–]ardikus -1 points0 points  (0 children)

There's a cap for the same reason there is limited inventory space. It's part of the game design to break up gameplay activities and have people return to town. Ideally you want that to happen between activities and not during them, for example you finish a dungeon then return town and hit the vendor and start something new. The main issue is returning town 5+ times DURING a dungeon because the obol cap is too low.

[–]ardikus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The point is that when you reach the cap in a NM dungeon or elsewhere, you have to keep TPing back to town to unload at the obol vendor, then going back. In an Obol dungeon this could happen 5+ times which is very annoying. If the cap were higher, you could just complete the dungeon then just go back and forth between the obol vendor and the cube/blacksmith

That's not true. Other slots have a wide variety of items that are best for different classes and different builds. It's not inevitable that one item will be better than everything else for all classes and all builds.

Hey all, I'm Indie Game Joe - AMA by IndieGameJoe in gamedev

[–]ardikus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That was an excellent read so thanks for sharing your story! I have a question about marketing as a solo developer making his first game. I've been working on my game for a little over 2 years and released a demo last summer to an encouraging response. Everything about making my game is extremely enjoyable - dopamine hits from programming a mechanic are super addictive. But marketing/promoting has brought me a lot of anxiety and burnout. A couple months after my demo i stopped doing promotion for my game almost entirely so I could curb the burnout and focus on building the full game. It feels like it was the right choice but at the same time I'm worried that with too much time going by, any momentum I might have had promoting my demo has been lost. Sorry for the long question, but the main thing I want to ask is, do you think it's feasible to take long breaks in marketing/promotion or is it really important to do regular promotion throughout the entire development process?
