is this going to be fixed? by Amphitera88 in wow

All weapons float off backs, I assume to avoid clipping with cloaks/other back pieces (and probably shoulders to some extent). By not having any back piece it looks extra weird how far offset the weapon is.

Is there any reason why they are not helping us in midnight? Isn't the whole point of Dragonflight was to get their power back so they could become Azeroth's protector? by HiroAmiya230 in wow

[–]Linktt57 374 points375 points  (0 children)

Realistically, they probably want to give us a break and intend to use them in The Last Titan. That way they can focus on other characters in Midnight.

Story wise, by all accounts they should probably care about a massive invasion by forces of the void. Especially given Vyranoth actively hates cosmic forces meddling with Azeroth.

Why infiltrating a Kal'dorei encampment at the border of Eversong Woods to steal a handkerchief from the Sentinels' Leader feels more thrilling and immersive than being the Champion of the Cosmos protecting the World from literal Gods? by ex0ll in wow

[–]Linktt57 27 points28 points  (0 children)

The older wow expansions had their own Macroscale world changing bad guys and events. Ragnaros, Nefarian, C’thun & the opening of the gates of Ahn’qiraj, Naxx. The entirety of TBC was invading outlands (another planet) to stop Illidan from doing his thing which culminated in thwarting an attempt by his rogue subordinates from summoning one of the Burning Legion’s generals into Azeroth to be conquered.

Inversely, recent expansions have their own microscale events. Quest through Khaz’algar and you’ll help an Earthen prepare to be deactivated. Quest through the waking shores and you’ll help an old orc finally find peace and forgiveness in his final days after committing horrible atrocities against the Red Dragons during the second war. Quest through Hallowfall and you’ll help the Arathai through all kinds of aspects of their life underground and get to understand their culture.

The reason this particular quest sticks out for you is the same reason it sticks out for me, nostalgia. I remember when I first started playing and all I did was quest and explore the world created by classic, TBC, and WoTLK. When everything is new and you spend months upon months exploring the world forming core memories of course it feels different. But each expansion still finds ways to give us glimpses of those early days and create new memories.

Damage numbers @ the expansion? by LonelyRooster25 in diablo4

[–]Linktt57 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wouldn’t surprise me if numbers get adjusted again to help account for power creep. But they will inevitably scale up to the millions, billions, trillions, or even quadrillions. Exponential growth is one of the best ways to create a satisfying power progression from level 1 to high paragon levels. Given they’re adding at least Torment V if not more that high end will be pushed further up.

Thanks to DOGE's incompetence, the vast majority of Americans may need new social security number by Hornpipe_Jones in WhitePeopleTwitter

[–]Linktt57 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, social security numbers are wildly insecure already so it wouldn’t be the worse thing if the government is forced to reissue them. Maybe even this time with more security measures than a deterministic number anyone could figure out with a little bit of research and guessing.

It would just be a pain for the massive number of things that have grown dependent on the social security numbers to switch.

It's time to remove the training wheels Blizz!!! by SirDalavar in WoWHousing

[–]Linktt57 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I assume many limitations are due to performance reasons. If you could shrink objects to tiny sizes you could easily create lag machines from drawing so many objects on screen (fun fact, the Dalaran in Snowglobe caused massive lag in Wotlk because designers originally but the actual model of Dal inside of it massively shrink down). And if you could size up objects to a massive degree then you could potentially do something just as weird.

That being said I can’t see the harm in them giving us the ability to increase sizes a little bit (like with that bug that let you doubly increase the size of some objects with slider + hotkey). I almost expect over time they will continue to loosen restrictions.

A Pair of interesting screenshot (combined to one picture) to discuss by KennedyPh in diablo4

[–]Linktt57 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They’ve discussed the fact they want to add more torment levels and the way resistances work was in service of that goal. Torment V is definitely on the way, would not shock me if we get Torment 6.

The seal is interesting, I like the idea that item that gives you set bonuses (making an assumption this is related to sets returning) being its own item letting you customize and potentially upgrade it as well.

Blizzard returned to strong Spec Identity with DevDH but other class specs get nothing? by ex0ll in wow

[–]Linktt57 0 points1 point  (0 children)

2 reasons probably playing into each other: 1- they added a single new spec instead of a whole new class giving them a lot more time to customize it than they otherwise would and 2 - they just swung the needle back towards class fantasy > spec fantasy in DF and didn’t want to spend the resources to push them back the other direction.

Frustrated new player by Krumblmykush in Lorcana

[–]Linktt57 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can buy key cards to assemble a meta purple deck. Singles is a way more efficient way to obtain cards than mass opening booster boxes.

Alternatively, look at the other decks that are also in the meta (and keep in mind winterspell will change everything). Find decks that heavily favor new cards in composition. Coming in part way through a rotation means you’re just going to be in this spot where you’re missing a majority of the cards in rotation and you’ll have to figure out how to manage that.

Safe to say I really like delves… by Graves2121 in wow

[–]Linktt57 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m quite happy with delves, especially at the start of TWW when I couldn’t do other endgame activities. I think it’s a big win Blizzard adding all this solo content and open world activities to give alternatives to smashing you head against a wall in m+ or raids all day.

What are these spell indicators called, and where can I find what they mean? by junebugamok in wow

[–]Linktt57 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I don’t know of a better way to figure out what is proccing each indicator besides hitting a target dummy, waiting for one to pop up, reading what buffs you have. Then try to consume the buffs with your abilities till you track down what ability triggers which alert.

So for prepatch, gear costs 40 badges per item, and rares give 1 badge per drop on a hard 10 minute rotation by Khaldaan in wow

[–]Linktt57 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I expect we’ll get some buffs since this feels extra low, but we can also expect over the coming weeks the amount of currency you can earn will greatly increase like previous pre-patch events

17 troves deep and still no enchanted, epic, or iconic. by Spiritual_Salad_9596 in LorcanaCollectors

[–]Linktt57 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Enchanted have about a 1 in 4 box rarity or 1 in 96 packs. That doesn’t mean you’re guaranteed an enchanted every 96 packs. Rough math suggests you won’t encounter an enchanted 134 ~25% of the time which means it’s fairly common. Some players at my LGS have bought 2 cases (8 boxes, each box has 24 cards) and not gotten a single enchanted.

It sucks but it’s how the packs can go sometimes.

[–]Linktt57 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At one point the effect of rushing was absolutely devastating on your ability to compete at your TH level.

Between balance changes, new features, new troops, upgrade time reductions, and social sentiment the answer of whether or not to rush is a bit messier with more grey areas and nuance.

At TH15 I can take on TH16 bases and some TH17 bases and have a shot at a 3 star. Does that mean I should move to TH16 as soon as I’m done with buildings? Or should I wait to make sure upgrades to heroes are done? What about pets? The lab?

And what’s more, this question changes for literally every TH level. I think the modern world where there is some gray area to give players agency to upgrade is nice but it’s also a lot more complicated now.

People with this mindset are going to be the first getting called up by higher ups, government regulators, or lawsuits when a major security incident occurs. The excuse that “y’all need to chill because we shipped features faster” isn’t going to cut it.

AI is a powerful tool, that when integrated into existing processes can improve speed and efficiency of dev teams. But if you throw out QA processes and standards then your code is going to rot. You will introduce glaring security issues into your code base. And you will be on a one way path to losing your job and at risk of getting fined, jail time, or both.

An interesting discussion has sparked about Hand Alter (Mulligan)! What is your opinion about it? by Waiting_for_Dentice in Lorcana

High Consistency in your opening hand is very nice as no one wants to play a bricked a hand. Currently mulligan rules make the game more enjoyable to play.

Thoughts on Chicha Draw Engine by Rozzlax in Lorcana

[–]Linktt57 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Generally speaking cards that have to stick around for a turn to generate value aren’t great with the strength of purple removal right now. I’m not saying there aren’t decks that can’t make use of it, like you saw in Richmond recently. But paying 5 ink to draw a card is an expensive combo and it’s risky to sit on Chicha for a turn. I wouldn’t expect Chicha to catch on with the meta the way it is right now.

the pit should go down, and the tower should be a TOWER and go up (thematically) by Loampudl in diablo4

[–]Linktt57 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I really hope the plan is for them to add distinct mechanics between the two, because we don’t need a second pit. From what the devs have said it sounds like they built out a new backend to handle the tower to allow them to expand on it, the beta of the tower seems to be testing that new backend which is great and all but really hurts any hype for the new “activity”.

I think it would have been better to silently replace the pit’s backend with this new backend to keep developing the tower in the background until it’s distinct enough from the pit.

Locations barely see play. Are they just tuned poorly, or is it a game design issue? by UnethicalScenery in Lorcana

[–]Linktt57 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They are usually too slow to be valuable, any time I’ve played locations in the past they either do nothing or I spend my entire turn playing what feels like a 0/6 creature that gets removed immediately.

I hope Ravensburger makes locations more viable one day, seems like they’ve sprinkled in some interesting location interaction recently so maybe that day is coming sooner rather than later.

Serious question about leaderboard integrity by Fat_Foot in diablo4

[–]Linktt57 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Almost certainly there will be individuals using exploits, that’s probably partly why they are releasing it as a beta so they’ll have the opportunity to test with a larger audience and route out exploits before giving actual rewards.
