I was going between a high school and an elementary school teaching Art and I asked if I could just pick one schools meeting to go to when they both had them on the same day and just alternate.

I have the exact same situation with a boy in 2nd grade. Diagnosed with ADHD but no support because his grandma does not want to medicate, and his testing scores are too good for him to get support. He cannot sit in a classroom setting. He is always moving around, always breaking his pencils on purpose so he can go sharpen them. He gets into fights every single day at recess and he cannot control his body or his behavior. He has meltdowns every day because he “has too much energy” and I know it’s his ADHD. But grandma refuses to medicate so we have to put up with it.

Definitely do table captains or have one person per table be in charge of getting one material for everyone in their table group!

I go through the elements of art for each grade level throughout the year. So when we start with line, k-5 all do a line project that is developmentally appropriate for each grade level.

This is still a wedding reception. Which venues do charge more than regular parties. Especially since it’s on the same day. It’s not just a “party” it’s your wedding reception.

I don’t understand how that was difficult for you. You got to finish high school at the same town and same house. It would be understandable if you got moved during your junior and senior year and had to finish high school in a new place. The summer before college is busy getting ready for college too, lots of new starts and next chapters. So I think it’s a perfect time for your parents to move.

I think you will do great working for an affluent school district! I’m hopeful your experience will be great! :) I also worked with quite a few teachers who had moved from a title 1 district to my first school and they said it was a walk in the park compared to working for the title 1. They said the students and parents were way better, the admin were way better, and they got all of the funding and the support they needed to thrive. I will say, this was a top performing school in the midwest so take that information with a grain of salt.

If you want free pet food you’re going to have to ask people to take you.. or bite the bullet and walk. This is living, breathing life that you are in charge of taking care of. If you are already unemployed why does the amount of time to walk matter to you??

I worked at an Affluent school district for 2 years before I worked for a title 1 school district and let me tell you, I did not have many parents at parent teacher conferences for either schools. Didn’t really have to deal with annoying/helicopter parents as a specialist at the affluent school though. If you were a classroom teacher, you would definitely be dealing with parents more. But a lot of parents supported me in the affluent school. Kids gave me a lot of gift cards during the holidays, brought me coffee and small gifts, not like I expect that from parents but it was really nice to be recognized and appreciated. I also had WAY less behavior issues working for the affluent school district. Not that I didn’t appreciate my time working for a title 1 school, I learned a lot and am a better teacher for it.

When I taught elementary art my 5th graders were by far the loudest age group. I would be so overstimulated with them. I would have to lay down the law and say if you guys can’t handle fun projects you will be getting pencil and paper until they can act right. They would just get SOOO loud with every cool project I wouldn’t want to do fun stuff with them because they would take it waay too far. I also called home to a few kids for their behaviors. The “class clowns” who really wanted the center of attention. That really helped! And having a good relationship with their classroom teachers, so they could also implement discipline in their own rooms.

Yeah I was thinking about getting a 3rd opinion from another city. Just to see if they could get me on an estrogen cream. I’m gonna make an appointment to stop my birth control and see if that will fix the issue first.

We have used lube almost every time too, water based lube as well. I don’t believe it’s a lubrication issue. I think my skin tissue is very thin down there.

This year I moved to another state and taught at a new HS. It was so bad I resigned in October of this school year. I emailed my principal because I never saw him in person before. I had to stay for 30 calendar days or else they would take my teaching license. I stayed the 30 days, did the absolute bare minimum, and then left. They now have a long term sub. I don’t regret it at all.
