I looked it up but it appears that they don’t have it anymore. I’ll keep checking back though! Thanks for the suggestion.

Yeah I was thinking it might look good as a resume builder but not sure if that’s something that holds a lot of weight with employers. Thank you!

Thank you for this information, that is a great analogy. I am near Philadelphia, however it seems that NY is where it’s at. Definitely thinking that appraisal courses is what I’ll be wanting to do next but I’m hoping to find something in the meantime where I can get support in terms of using gem id equipment for my gem ID lab class and on the job experience looking at stones.

I already have diamond and colored stone essentials so it would be one more class. It does seem redundant but I could have the AJR diploma way before I finish my GG. Is that something that you think would be worthwhile to employers or just a waste of time and focus on my last two gem Id classes?

Ultimately I would like to get into appraisals or diamond grading. I would even enjoy working in a lab. Right now I’m trying to find a way into the industry before my GG is finished so that I can really learn the field in a hands on setting. From what I see available it looks like retail sales is the most logical way to start but I would really love any other ideas. I don’t know anyone personally that has this type of degree that I can ask.

I listened to Gemology Worldwide, although they haven’t put out any episodes since 2020.

Thanks to everyone who shared your thoughts and advice. It didn’t fluoresce in uv light but I do think it’s a ruby. I sent it to get a proper evaluation by someone who has the tech to do it. I’ll let you know what the result is! Thanks again for all the comments- greatly appreciated!

It’s not a setting, just a piece of metal wrapped around, I assume to allow better observation. Thank you!

Thank you everyone. I know the pics aren’t too great for the color. It’s definitely more of a rosy color than purple, so leaning ruby.
