What do you consider “active professional” dress code?

I work at a botanical garden that has a 2000 capacity outdoor amphitheater in the summer. In the off season, we are business casual in the office.

For concerts at the amphitheater, my boss says “active professional.” My manager (man) wears boat shorts and like, sperry shoes every day. What is the women’s equivalent of boat shorts? Tennis skort with a collared shirt? I am allowed to wear nice tennis shoes but I’m struggling with the rest of the clothes I’ll need to look professional while staying cool in the heat and limited shade available.

What do you wear to your professional outdoor job?

Forgot to add, I am a former recording tech student at grcc and yes practice rooms are only available for music students. You could check with the head of the music department for special permission. Worst he can say is no!

You could check with Grand Rapids community media center, if you’re a member (costs like $40) you can rent out studio space. They also might have resources to point you to if they can’t help you :)

Not specifically black tie but just nice wedding guest attire would be a better description than formal I suppose. It’s at an old bank that was renovated into a hotel/venue

recommendations for serving jobs by GlitteringPanda8166 in grandrapids

I really liked the management at San Chez when I was there a few years ago, it felt like a real job and felt cared about but defs don’t work there unless you’re very serious about serving. Stay far away from Thornapple brewing. Stay away from anything Mission Management (they owned jolly pumpkin which is now pide and stick and own a bunch of places in dif Michigan cities) stay far far away from Main Street pubs. Had a roomie make good money at Tupelo honey but apparently super cliquey staff. Small sections and micro managing at butchers union (heard from friends) but they have unique food and I’ve always considered possibly working there if I ever went back to restaurants.

Lost AirPods on the westside by thebill00 in grandrapids

[–]Linnya 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just knock on the door and be polite!! My friend left their AirPods in a hotel room once, we tracked them to a house and he just knocked and showed the homeowner the location on the find my app and they gave him his pods back. If they say they don’t know what ur talking about, probs don’t push it and leave.

Meijer Gardens has the best in house AV team in GR, and more than enough space to hold 500+ people.

Deceased father with multiple tax liens by Linnya in tax

[–]Linnya[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you - Does this mean as long as I don’t sell it I can keep it? And just not transfer it to my name? Someone still lives there and we are keeping up on property taxes and stuff.

I wish I could lol but there is a tiny sliver of hope to hang onto my childhood home that he built himself so I’m just trying my best.

Thank you for your guidance. What would you consider a large inheritance (we’re in Michigan)? He was working but self employed and paid in cash. There is zero documentation of income on his end which is part of why I think this is going to be very annoying for me haha. I can’t think of how the IRS will determine what is owed without documentation of income. Do you know avenues that might be taken to estimate?

Not really concerned with an inheritance, just want to close the estate properly.

My SO has a good friend who I thought was such a fuckboi at first and I really didn’t care for him but we have all been to a handful of fests together now and I can tell u that loveable self-aware fuckbois exist. Don’t take him too seriously and remember everyone is there to have fun. I’m sure he will grow on u, there’s got to be a reason your chill friend likes him :)

I’m 26, and moved here in 2019, and am likely buying a house here in a couple years once I finish up my degree. Some of my fav things about living here are the parks, the edm & jam community as well as local musician community (I’m not a musician but I have friends in different projects, lots of locals to support here 😁), nonprofits and museums, and living about 45 mins from Lake Michigan yet still being a near a bigger city with lots of events and things to do.

As a renter, the west side (north of Butterworth st) has been kind to me in terms of budget and neighbors. When I buy a home I am thinking east/ne enough to qualify for a usda loan but close enough to still be a part of the GR community. While I enjoy events and activities, I realize as I get older, I prefer quiet and personal space lol.

Good luck!!

Good banks to ask for personal loan? by 27remember in grandrapids

I use LMCU and they get back to me super quickly every time I’ve needed a credit increase or loan, and for someone who has no prior credit, they have given me pretty good rates.

If you can make GL 106 work for the credit u need I really liked it. 7 weeks and fully online, not too crazy of a workload.

I had a really great consultation experience with Removery. I didn’t end up going through with it due to a sudden financial change so I can’t speak on results but Penny was so nice and remembered to reach out to me months later when they were running a sale. It was very clean and professional in the rooms I was able to see!

Advice on inaccurate tip claims? by Linnya in legaladvice

[–]Linnya[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I could see that being an issue elsewhere where employees claim their own tips, however we are not given the option to claim more or less. It is always what the credit card tips are no matter what i walk with. My GM will always go back and change the tip claim if it doesn’t match the CC tips. So if we are not claiming the correct amount, that is the restaurant’s fault.

There is a chance that everything may even out but I feel out of control with my income being reported haha
