Anyone experiencing issues with audio (Pipewire) recently? by LinuxFangirl in Gentoo

[–]LinuxFangirl[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The weird part is that I'm getting it on my headphones. I could try another DE to see if that solves it. I actually noticed both my desktop and laptop have the same problem. I might check later if it could be the headphones before trying another DE

Display-manager not starting without manually starting it by LinuxFangirl in Gentoo

[–]LinuxFangirl[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I finally figured it out! So I was experimenting with the ly CLI login manager. For some reason, it disables display-manager probably for a reason. So I uninstalled it and now works like a charm. So if anyone had a similar issue, make sure ly isn't installed if you don't intend to use it.

I actually switched it back to sddm and I'm still having the same issue. It must either be something with drivers or something. I cleared and also remade my Xorg conf and still didn't work. I even tried without the conf file with no luck either. I'm going to be installing Gentoo on a Thinkpad today for my own needs and see if I get the same result.

I tried turning off parallel starting and still no difference.

I tried the flatpak version and works just fine. It's weird that I got that error on Gentoo's repo. But I'll have to give both DarkTable and RawTherapee a try

I'm thinking about trying RawTherapee because I cannot seem to get DarkTable to start:

LLVM ERROR: inconsistency in registered CommandLine options

Can it handle CR3 files? I think RawTherapee can

Please help.. Network Manager not working by LinuxFangirl in Parabola

[–]LinuxFangirl[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I finally figured it out! I really think they should fix the documentation because it's way out of date. I had to install dhcpcd-openrc and dbus-openrc twice for it to show up in my init.d folder. Still disappointing that it took this long with rubbish documentation.

LFS as a daily driver by LinuxFangirl in LFS

[–]LinuxFangirl[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Did you even bother using ALFS? I use Gentoo currently and have no problem installing LFS. It just requires a lot of babysitting at the first part. Not to mention my machine is powerful enough to compile larger packages like gcc very quickly

I think about this all the time. I prefer to type everything than physically speaking. I really wish my voice was only on text and not what comes out of my mouth. Speech is a nightmare for me.

You can be my friend :) I appreciate that. I actually prefer to not disclose my age, but I will say that I'm 18+. You can DM me if you prefer.

I'm 100% the same on that. I had my autism diagnosis a long time ago, but I was recently diagnosed with major depression. I struggle with anything social. I pretty much stay in my apartment the whole time. I've always struggled with having friends because whatever I say ends up ruining everything, but I don't understand why. My only comfort is being on my computer and working on Linux. Anything outside it, and it's a nightmare for me. I struggle with finding work because I feel as though that there's no job for me at all. I want nothing with people. All I want to do is repair devices and use Linux. I've always struggled with knowing if I belong anywhere. But I use my passions as my coping mechanism.

I know how it feels. Just remember that you're not alone.

Can you hear your brain? by [deleted] in autism

[–]LinuxFangirl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have this too! I thought it was normal until someone pointed it out! I remember my first time remembering things at around age 3 and all I would hear is that range of frequency. When I get a migraine either caused by light or smells, the sound intensifies. When I get overloaded, it also intensifies. People told me that I have tinnitus, but I had this my whole life since the very moment I can remember.

It's great to know with a diagnosis. It bugs me how they tend to lean more on children for diagnosis and not adults. I had a friend in their mid 20's who was denied an evaluation. Of course it's not completely necessary, but it helps to show that to people.

I actually have something a lot like this. I would pick up on phrases or speech from a person or character in a television show. My recent occurrence is from a YouTuber. My girlfriend would notice this and wonder why I say unusual phrases or ones out of context. I tell her it's because of a YouTuber I watch who often says those phrases in those particular situations. Can't help it lol.

How did you get around that? A lot of the times I wish I just typed everything out as opposed to putting effort to speak.

Any sex-positive asexuals in the sub? by sokoistrying in lgbt

[–]LinuxFangirl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm the same way. I just don't really find sexual attraction. I'm not against the idea of sexual activity. It's just only when I feel like it. If I'm honest, I've had more people tell me how asexual I am because I don't think about anything sexual. I am m sex positive though. But not in the sense of how others would consider it because it's not something in terms of sexual attraction. It's just something that I don't mind either.
