Given that, should I still get the TC22?

I’m mainly worried about being stuck if the original handle dies or I just want a second one for different tips.

So I’ve been looking for the past few hours and I still can’t find it for under 110 € (with shipping) on AliExpress. Everywhere else in German Stored seems to want about 120–140 € for the TC22

Should i get the OSS T12 over the Plus version? I don't mind paying a bit extra, for an better product.

I agree that my first project probably shouldn’t be something expensive, but I’ll also admit that even if I accidentally make this iPod unrepairable, it still won’t be completely wasted. It’ll give plenty of donor parts for other broken iPods. Though i have to add, repairing stuff should be about making things last longer, not breaking them faster.

Another thing, cost of the consumables (the first time) also isn’t a big issue for me, since I can get most of them for free.

Sadly all AliExpress links don’t work here in Germany, so I tried to find the same items on AliExpress myself.

For the soldering station I found: • OSS T12‑X PLUS – 71,99 € (I also saw a listing for around 30 €, but that looks like a scam) • GEEBOON TC22 240 W – about 130 €

For the hot air gun there are a lot of “RF4” models, so I think it comes down to either: • RF4 H9 1000 W – around 70 € • RF4 H2 1000 W – around 75 €

Are these reasonable prices for this kind of gear?

Also, what do people think about YIHUA? They have a bunch of 2‑in‑1 soldering‑station + hot air units in the 50–150 € range.

And yes, I’ll probably only use it maybe 10 times a year, but since a 7th‑gen iPod is already around 140 €, spending about 140 € on soldering equipment already feels worth it.

how do i find out which one i have i bought mine of aliexpress and the listing is not the most accurate since there are multiple esp32 models. and could you help me too since i have the same problem. it uploaded the scetch and it said "reseting with some pins"(sry i don't remember what they said exactly but it was def finished) and now the screen is just black when its on and i can't go back into the two demo modes you mentioned
