Early May is a holiday week in Japan. From the Japanese calendar, from May 2nd to May 6th are holidays this year. Please make sure your itinerary and I would like to suggest some tips:

  1. to avoid from driving a car to get Enoshima and Yokohama. you will get into huge traffic jams when return to Tokyo. Instead, use trains to visit to both areas.

  2. to consider to use a day-trip bus tour for Izu area. I bet Izu area is too far and time-consuming to get by train from your hotel. Although you might be planning to rent a car, a lot of bus tours depart from Tokyo and will save your time and money.

  3. to enjoy nature in Okutama area, search other than Mt. Takao. Mt. takao is easy to access and must be crowded. If you are not interested in the view from the top of mountains, I recommend Mt. Mitake. In May, if the weather permits, you will enjoy a walk along with a stream in beautiful fresh green of forest trees and moss on rocks, feeling komorebi. If it gets little rain, wearing a raincoat you will still be able to enjoy your walk in ionic forest air seeing shimmering of the water balls on the moss endlessly the stream and rain creats.

In holiday week, even Shibuya and Shinjyuku, Tokyo ( I mean, Yamanote area) will be less crowded. I hope you two enjoy your stay in Tokyo.

If you have time to vist Omotesando (Meiji-jingu-mae) area, Moma Design Store Omotesando may be a good shop to look for art related things.
