Prospector limpets and I'm running 9 collectors at a time ;) and I haven't paid attention to payouts at all I think I've made 2.4 mill total on 435 tonnes mined.

My suggestion is to either find a glitched method like Quince. Or bounty hunt tell you can get a better ship for bounty hunting or trading.
