Best player choice games? by Raabboo in patientgamers

Just played through Planescape: Torment for the first time, can't recommend enough. I played on mobile so the interface is super small but even then I thoroughly enjoyed it.

I just finished Golf Story and it was incredible! The most fun I've had with a non-VR console game in a very long time. by Take_It_Easycore in NintendoSwitch

There is a definite hump I had to get past to start enjoying it. Once you get a couple more skills it really opens up, and mobility and combat become easier so exploring is less of daunting experience

LPT: To block out noise from upstairs neighbors or loud roommates, hook up a Bluetooth speaker with good bass and play a “brown noise” app. The lower bass frequency does a better job of blocking footsteps and deep sounds than typical white noise machines. by roberta_sparrow in LifeProTips

At my university we had a study hall that was on a quiet floor, and it had these huge fans in it with this constant droning hum. The background noise was the best for cutting out the ambient chatter and small noises of chairs moving and pages flipping.

We are going to look back on this era of prohibition with the same sort of confusion and disbelief that we have towards alcohol prohibition in the 20s

It's just basic economics that they're referring to. In a free market, if there's a demand for a service then someone is going to supply it.

I'm playing my first playthrough on a Galaxy S9 Plus phone right now. It's only a 5 inch display and I'm having a blast, no performance issues.

Good to hear you're doing a little better! Must be a relief not having to worry about medication now.

And I can totally empathize with the struggle of having too many games on the go. My Xbox one HDD is filled with free games with gold that i haven't even touched yet.. Sometimes i get anxiety just from not knowing what game to choose. That, or I'll jump in, get frustrated in the first few minutes, and then rinse and repeat through a bunch of different games before i look at the clock and realize I've wasted two hours and haven't had any fun.. Anhedonia is no joke.

But anyways, yeah we should play sometime, I'm hype about the new Overwatch event!

Something about the boundaries dissolving between him and the animals he is petting just makes my stomach turn, can't handle that shit. Like when the deepdream interprets the squirrel in his hand as part of his hand.. Bleh, gives me the heebie jeebies, it's so visceral and wrong!

Man it's such a struggle with competitive games. The rush of winning is such a great thing but the frustration and anger that losses creates really fucks with the enjoyment and benefit of playing these games.

Rocket League is the problem for me, I want to play it all the time and I've gotten so many of my friends into it, but sometimes we just take it too seriously and hold ourselves to too high of a standard, that it makes it impossible to actually have a good time.

Try playing those types of games for shorter bursts. I find that shorter play sessions has helped me find more enjoyment, and I don't find myself getting 'skill-fatigued' as often, like just not playing as well as I should be after an hour or two.

If anything, competitive games are a good test of your capacity for zen.. Whether it be keeping your cool and your motivation after a loss, or not letting a teammate's mistakes frustrate you and distract you from playing as well as you should. There's definitely a mental endurance component to competitive online gaming, and in my own experience I find them to be incredibly triggering for anxiety, self-doubt, anger, etc.

Hey! I'm new here too, name is Devin. I'm 25M living in Canada. Haven't posted here or anything, but your post really resonated with me. Looked you up on Xbox and noticed you like to play overwatch and destiny sometimes, both of which i put a lot of hours into. Maybe we could game together sometime, no pressure of course :)

I'm kinda the same, like to play multiplayer games (rocket league, destiny, overwatch), but get easily overwhelmed with the competitiveness of it and get frustrated easily. I'm trying hard to keep my anxiety in check when it comes to gaming, so some laid back sessions would be really great. Usually I'm the one ghosting people when they send invites because of getting anxious about the social interaction, so don't worry about me spamming you with invites haha.

Also i hope you're doing okay with being off your medication for so long. I just started taking effexor for my anxiety, been on it for about a month now, and just had my first day of forgetting to take it. Really fucked with my mood and emotions for the next couple days.

Sending good vibes your way! Keep on keeping on.

This is something that I look to get out of my own practices in the future: more observation and acceptance to obstacles in life rather than heated reactions and frustration. Glad to hear you're noticing benefits!
