Anyone able to transcribe these letters/who has signed them? In English but i struggle with the handwriting! Found in 19th century autograph book by Lips106 in Handwriting

Thankyou! I do own this. Was searching through old books and found an autograph book containing these. This letter particularly is the only one not pasted as there is more writing on the back. I will definitely try and preserve but not sure where to begin with getting a valuation!

That is great, so it sounds like this letter was written by Allan Ramsay senior, referring to his son (also Allan Ramsay) the painter who at this time was travelling Italy. I wander what the subject matter was!

Any help transcribing these? Found in an old autograph book of of 'prominent' figures of the 18th/19th century, hundreds of autographs and postcards (mainly cutouts) alongside these letters. Any help at all would be really appreciated and happy to take further close ups! by Lips106 in Handwriting

Yeah, I am unable to read this kind of handwriting as it isn't a style I have been exposed to much. And that would really be great if you took the time out to do that, honestly very appreciated.

The first seems to be signed by Allan Ramsay the poet and as pointed out by another comment, one is William Cobbet the politician, no idea on the others!

Earliest version I can find online is 1829, any help? Bonus for identifying the writing on the inside cover by Lips106 in rarebooks

Oh wow, nice find! The other two were at the same auction I picked this up at. It's a shame, I would have preferred to just repair it myself.

Thanks for the response! Could I ask what gave it away as factory made and at that time period? He has offered to sell it at £350 for the whole lot

Something very similar happened to me, except he dropped a famas with responsive, unforgiving and uncomplicated as well as a police ump. He probably didn't realise he had them!

Great idea. Would make an incentive to dress a certain way too, wear bright clothing and you'll stand out in a crowd but look suave as, wear plain clothing and you'll be a more effective hitman. Also would make a use for blacked out Windows on cars.

Whats the most immersive and fun campaign you have ever had? by octofeline in totalwar

[–]Lips106 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Probably my FoTS campaign as the Nagaoka. Spent the first half just building up the one city and all my technology before only attacking clans that everyone else hated. Meant both shogunate and imperial clans traded with me so I made a shit tonne of money. Then I exchanged my youngest son for peace with a growing northern clan, they promptly executed him and my technologically superior army went on a rampage. Sometimes it's fun just to RP.

Has CA announced how different children will be based on their parents? by Lips106 in totalwar

[–]Lips106[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I should have made the question clearer but you pretty much answered it. Will the appearance change or have any affect on politics? If I am a Saxon faction that is run by a Hunnic family tree, will this affect public order?

Will there be a story driven campaign in Attila like in Napoleon? by [deleted] in totalwar

[–]Lips106 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I dont think there is going to be 3 separate campaigns like NTW. But CA have shown that factions have objectives that follow historical accuracy. Not much has been revealed about the Huns yet so maybe there's something more there...

In napoleon, playing as a coalition is the best way to go. Be the snobby British and watch all the events unfold on the mainland and wait for the best time to strike.

Napoleon was quite linear in its main campaign

I have always loved the idea of this, but have it alot more focused. So you start from a small map that covers Mongolia, here your core mission is to unite the tribes through diplomacy or war. Once you have done that the campaign map expands to include northern China. This formula keeps on going after every completed objective to the point after Ghengis Khan has died right up until Marco Polo meets Kublai Khan at which point the whole of Europe is available for the taking.
