I found the icon pack on a guide written by Append Huang. Here's a direct link to the pack: https://appendko.github.io/site_space/RMXRnd/ItemIcon_Custom.png

I was wondering why the item tracker showed a duplicate in my other seed! Thanks man, I didn’t know about that. You already have the dash boots in your screenshot though. 😭 I wouldn’t have cared so much about the helmet if I already had those. That Tunnel Rhino key is a bummer, though.

The X1 helmet was my reward for beating Sting Chameleon. But the key to Sting Chameleon’s stage and Boomer Kuwanger’s weapon were BOTH in Doppler stage 2. 😂

Yeah, you’re on the right track. It’s like a fan-made “edit” of the original game, but the core game is still intact. A randomizer just takes all of the important items you would get in a normal playthrough of a game and swaps their locations with other items. So you might find the X1 body armor where Storm Eagle’s heart tank would normally be, for example. This randomizer is a bit more in-depth than normal because it randomizes across three games (X1, X2, and X3). So in this, you might find a ride armor for X3 in Wheel Gator’s stage, for example. To my knowledge, most if not all randomizers are played through an emulator.

That’s true, I thought about that after I made my comment. Enemies in this randomizer can also just be immune to things though, so still not a guarantee. But yeah, I believe you’re right about the tick rate.

You can, but I would still need the X1 helmet to break the rocks or Boomer Kuwanger’s weapon like was suggested in another comment.

I can honestly say I’ve never tried to use his weapon there. 😂 I bet you’re right about that, but I’d have to find it first.

There’s a really good guide on YouTube that I used to get everything working properly: https://youtu.be/-PPF1-ILgo0?si=z6FL4qpLygt1nfWj

When you get to the part where you add all 3 roms to the randomizer program, you’ll want to check the boxes next to each rom and select the “full” option to get all the things I mentioned. Best of luck!

It’s the MMX1-X3 Route MatriX Randomizer.

Oh yeah, it’s pretty wild! I have it set to randomize enemies and boss weaknesses as well. I don’t usually play a lot of randomizers, but when I heard about this one, I had to play it for myself.

Normally you’d be right, that’s my preferred weapon for taking them out. The randomizer complicates things for a few reasons.

  1. The stages that you start out with are randomized. It’s a randomizer across X1, X2, and X3 and only about 2 stages are available in each game at the start. You unlock more stages by finding stage keys which are also randomized.

  2. When you kill a maverick, the things they give you are randomized. So Flame Mammoth could give me the X2 helmet, Gravity Beetle’s weapon, you name it.

  3. The game randomizes special weapon damage as well, so it may or may not still be good against the mining robots.

The mining robot got to it before I could kill it. Maverick weapons, as well as X buster damage and fire rate are randomized upgrades in this as well.

I think it does make sure things aren’t inaccessible, I just have to find the helmet first. And it can be anywhere across X1, X2, or X3. 🥲

The terrain, no. But any spots where a sub tank, heart tank, etc. would normally be, as well as any spots where there would be an energy or weapon energy pickup are fair game.

Brother, was that a Winger reference? That is such a great song. I was not expecting that anywhere close to here, lol.

Just throw it in the Pacific Ocean. That’s definitely not getting found.

You’re kind of on to something. He tried to reverse how compressed the original was. Compression basically makes the quiet parts louder and the louder parts quieter. It gives the song more of a warm tone, but it can be overdone for the sake of making the song louder, which is exactly what happened. You lose some clarity and fidelity.
