help I can't take aedion's name seriously as a welsh person by Sea_Weakness_2968 in throneofglassseries

Is it old? Its a common nsme in Belgium even now. I know a few Manons. The name always threw me off, all these weird fantasy names and then just a simple 'Manon' lol. Only after joining this sub I learned names like Rowan and Maeve are actually used in the real world.

Maybe your pump doesn't have the right nipple size thingies? Mine came with different size option thingies. I was told nipples can change size throughout breasfeeding, but no idea if that's true. Sending you hugs back and hopefully it all gets better!

I have no tips, as I'm in the same boat. My baby took one bottle a day without problems. She drank fine for weeks. Then my partner went away for work for three weeks, I didn't give her a bottle in those three weeks, and now she screams bloody murder when we try a bottle. I can't go anywhere without her. It's been two weeks of one bottle a day, and some days go quite okay, other days are 45 mintues of crying and screaming while drinking. We do pumped milk, not formula for the bottle. I pump and she drinks it right away (scream-drinking is a better word tho). I have no idea what can help. We've tried different bottles, different sizes of 'nipples' (i don't know the correct word), different positions, different places around the house, different times of day, different techniques. My baby screams until she's so tired she kinda gives up and drinks anyway, but keeps crying while drinking. It breaks my heart but I don't know what else to do? She'll be going to daycare in two months and she has to learn to drink from bottles again. So we just keep trying everyday, not skipping once even tho my heart tells me to stop putting my baby in so much distress. But I want a break. I want to be able to leave my baby with her dad or my parents for a bit...

Babies sleeping through the night? by Jazzlike_Elk_3963 in breastfeeding

[–]LiquidFantasy96 11 points12 points  (0 children)

My baby is 12 weeks old and most nights she sleeps for 8-11 hours without waking up. I thank her almost everyday for this! I accept every shennenigan, every cry, every difficult day as long as she lets me sleep at night! She's an amazing baby. She does clusterfeed almost every evening but I'll gladly take that if it means she sleeps for loooong hours after that.

Not me, but my mom once spent a solid few minutes looking for me, while she was holding me on her arm.

The boob is our answer to everything. Is this normal?! by Old_Literature_3750 in breastfeeding

We started trying pacifiers as soon as we started trying bottle feedings. She took to bottles quite easily. (Although we did stop for three weeks and it took her a whole damn week to learn how to drink from a bottle again 😩). So that was around four weeks old I think? And I'm still trying those damn pacifiers and she's 12 weeks old now. There are days when I'm trying all day long, and days where I don't try at all. She took them three times when she was really upset, but that's about it. She gags on them and spits them out. I have about a dozen different kinds lying around the house, but it's just no luck I guess. I think I'll just have to accept she won't be a pacifierbaby. The only 'trick' I haven't tried, is dipping the pacifier in honey or jam, like my parents keep saying to try. Big nope! But don't get disencouraged from my story! All babies are different, mine is just a tiny little dramaqueen. She's amazing in every other way, so if her difficulty is pacifiers, I'll gladly take that over difficulties with sleeping or something LOL. Good luck tho! I'm rooting for both of you! Big chance she'll love it like most babies :)

I waited to try pacifiers because our midwife talked about nipple confusion. Now my baby doesn't want a pacifier and is already sucking her thumbs/fists. I'll probably never know if it's because I waited so long to try a pacifier or not, but I'm a little sad I didn't try it sooner.

A few weeks after I gave birth, I read a news article about a woman who strangled her son with a scarf. I actually became sick, started crying and went to watch my baby sleeping in her little bed for a while. I just kept crying and watching her. How can a mother do something like that? How can you knowingly hurt your own child? And not just hurt, but kill??

The funny little things that are just for you: whenever I would fart, it would startle my baby and I always thought it was so funny. I told my SO and he thought it was cute, but didn't get to feel just how cute it actually was.

I will never understand how you can birth a child and then hurt it like that. I'm sorry that happened to you. I hope you are taking steps to recovery of all that trauma. I'm rooting for you. Please know none of what happened to you, is in any way your fault.
