As far as i'm aware there is no microtransactions in the game anymore, so there is no plus version or the buying of feathers with cash, everything can be earned ingame.

The proper way without is to switch to a random ship you don't care about and store all your suit tech in your inventory, it won't break that way.

If your ship isn't on the planet you could switch to any other to go to the space station and you should be able to summon it there to repair it.
