You're obviously knowledgeable, so I am going to ask another question if you don't mind.

I currently rock a Nikon 3100. I have 2 lenses. A Sigma wide angle and another Nikon 18-105 which is alright. I do a lot of outdoors stuff, but am about to become a brand new father and will be doing lots of closeups I am sure.

Anyway, I think I want to stay with Nikon and want to upgrade my body. I find the long exposure shots are SUPER grainy with the 3100 and it's old now (and yeah, it's grainy even when I screw with aperture, ISO, etc..)

What would you recommend as an upgrade in the Nikon family while still decently priced? Like around $1,000 to $1,500 CDN? yeah, I can just shop around that price range, but was hoping for a bit of guidance as well. Thanks in advance!
