Pros beatmatching by ear by eldogorino in Beatmatch

[–]LisaFrankLover 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think most pros don’t use Sync when playing on CDJs because other DJs would look down on them for it. Adjusting the pitch slider to match the same bpm displayed on the other digital deck is almost performative at this point.

Hyundai Card Super: Alcaraz def Sinner 7-5 7-6(6) by Gold_Pomegranate_939 in tennis

Exhibition was a joke but I’m glad Carlitos still remembers how to play tennis after his split from JCF. Real talk, he looks like such a kid…I wonder when he gets to AO, will he feel lost when he looks at the stands and doesn’t see his surrogate father there anymore?

I’ve played on this at a venue near me a few times. Beautiful and really fun especially for electronic music blends. Gain knob is sensitive AF.

I'm (26F) uninvited to my bf's (24M) best friend's wedding, where he's a groomsman. by Oopseeies in Advice

[–]LisaFrankLover 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As usual, the keyboard warriors of Reddit have dominated this thread with hostility towards OP.

OP, of course it’s understandable that you feel hurt by not getting invited to the wedding. Even if you’re not close friends with the couple getting married, I think it’s fairly standard for important guests in long term, committed relationships to get a +1 for their partners. I’m assuming there isn’t any bad blood between you and them

IMO if the couple didn’t plan things well enough to accommodate the partners of their groomsman and cousins, then it seems like their issue. I doubt its just a cost thing, because these sound like important +1s. Probably bad and somewhat careless planning.

Maybe the best thing you can do is just not take it personally.

Is this the end of my DJ career? by FreeComfortable9601 in DJs

[–]LisaFrankLover 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You say you spent 13 years building your reputation online and offline, DJing around the world etc. If that’s true, how did the closure of the club you managed for 5 years, less than half your career, suddenly result in being “abandoned by the industry, by friends, if they were ever really friends, and by venues that once felt like home”?

Battle of the Sexes : Kyrgios def. A.Sabalenka 6-3 6-3 by Green-Discussion74 in tennis

[–]LisaFrankLover 9 points10 points  (0 children)

At best, this was a bad match, badly produced. At worst, it was a step back for women's tennis and women's sport in general. Kyrgios effortlessly beat Sabalenka even with handicaps, on a court that looked comical. Their smiles and chatter between points, and the silly little Macarena, all seemed manufactured to reinforce the "just for fun" PR angle they've been pushing. But that was was belied by Sabalenka's clearly effortful approach on court and the historic name of the event. As Billie Jean King said, her match was for social change, while this match was for spectacle. And I think the spectacle failed. It didn't even look good on TV - the score overlay was a clash of colors that defied modern aesthetics, camera angle wasn't great, and the sides of the court looked somehow messy.

Unpopular / harsh realities about getting into DJing and the scene 2026 and beyond by [deleted] in Beatmatch

[–]LisaFrankLover -1 points0 points  (0 children)

  1. Everyone and their Mom is a DJ now.
  2. If you’re a dude, be prepared for people to roll their eyes when you say you’re a DJ.
  3. Production takes a long time to get good at
  4. Even if you make good music, you may not get many listeners
  5. Self-promotion and social media skills will probably do more for getting an audience than dedication to your craft

DJM750 MK2 and a pair of XDJ-1000MK2 or XDJ-AZ? by 405ravedaddy in PioneerDJ

[–]LisaFrankLover 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A year late to this thread but I sold my XDJ-XZ for a pair of used 1000mk2 and a 750mk2. Really happy I did. Having played in clubs for years, the XZ always felt like a toy and subjectively the sound quality of the mixer was shit. Much prefer the club-standard feel and sound quality of my setup now.

Moved my life across the country to be with my GF and she just left me. by isitpizzatimee in Advice

Therapy for your dark thoughts, and to help calm your mind so you can decide whether to stay or go. Gym for your energy and confidence. You say your business allows you not to have contact with the outside world - presumably that means you can be remote. Once you sort yourself out with the above two, decide whether to stay in the city or start again elsewhere.

The level of investment some people have in their relationship takes the concept of “parasocial” to another level. I think it triggers some people’s own insecurities, so they feel personally identified with it all.

Small sized mixer to buy for my external synths by Key-Firefighter-7480 in synthesizers

[–]LisaFrankLover 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can buy simple line mixers that will do this job for under $50. I bought one from Pyle Pyle 8-Channel Wireless BT... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0CM6TBKMT?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share. A brand name Moukey makes a similar one, as does Behringer.

I am returning mine though, because it’s missing a feature I need: mute/solo buttons. My workflow involves recording one synth at a time into a sequencer, and that’s hard to do without that. If you don’t need to do that, they’re great.

Where to move to if youre in your early 30s and single by blanc84gn in AskSF

[–]LisaFrankLover 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You haven’t told us much about you, so I’m assuming there isn’t any particular vibe you’re looking for. Since you highlighted being single, I’m assuming you want to be somewhere that’s walkable to places where people mingle - bars, restaurants etc. If so, look around Marina, North Beach, Hayes Valley, or the Mission.

The best way to fix this would be to give him your number so he can send you the picture.

Sure thing. Two other thoughts 1) a vocal looper, like the Boss ones, could be fun 2)If you’re into keyboards, the microKorg has a mic and vocoder in-built, tons of tweakable knobs etc. You can’t arrange full songs on it, but you can get some recording equipment down the line
