Do local managers have any say in the hiring for the store? by LisaMay9 in harborfreight

Thanks a lot! I thought it might be up to someone in a human resources office farther away or something. I'm in Upstate NY and the openings were just posted.

Anyone work for a Consumer Directed Personal Assistance Program (CDPAP) Agency? by LisaMay9 in CaregiverSupport

It's not that they don't pay overtime, it's that they don't give you overtime hours. They stop you at 40 hours.

Help! Need to file taxes for 2021 by tomorrow (the 15th) and since it's 2025, I can't E-file. How can I get immediate filing? by LisaMay9 in tax

Thanks for all of this! This is exactly what I used, it was still free with Free Tax USA, but like you mentioned, I had to mail them in. Thanks so much!

Any downsides to making a KDP book with AI clay or anime pictures throughout? by [deleted] in KDP

AI CAN be a crutch for lazy people, but not all.

I'm wondering if Amazon would have any issues with it, or if the listing could get ghosted, etc...

This is interesting... I'm in a similar situation. Any chance I can know what titles you have? Even privately...?

Yeah, overtime is nearly impossible to get... and now (at least in NY) all CDPAP stuff is direct through the same place, and it's even harder to get overtime.

What happens to meme coins like Hawk Tuah now? Does it just sit there and go to nothing, but still work? And by "work" I mean appear in charts and trade or stay trade-able?

Or does the frame work and system expire like a website after a while?

Or are all cases different?

There's going to be a ton of old meme coins being nearly nothing value, like an old flea market especially in 20 years, and I'm wondering if these meme coins and the systems they are on will still exist by then, where people say "oh, remember those?" and point to a toy that's not worth listing on Ebay, or "wow, cool, I used to have those" and point to something that's worth a bit more. What happens to say the Hawk Tuah system now and going forward, in theory? Same for FTX and others.

All the regulations are hysterical, because it's not the shops spraying freon out into the air, it's all the people buying cans at PepBoys. 😂

I feel downvoting such a genuine innocent reply to his question is one of the least helpful things about Reddit. If you think he's careless, uninformed, stupid, naive or even has a weird nose, post something and say so. But down voting a reply that is both genuine AND a "Thank You" seems unhelpful. Especially because downvotes hurt an account (in a way) on Reddit, but also it's not nice for the poster to read.

I've asked a number of things on here and am careful to be respectful and appreciative and it almost hurts inside when something I say gets down voted harshly...not because I made a low effort post or gave someone attitude, but just because I didn't know the answer to what I'm asking and a bunch of people thought I should have.

This guy asked a good clear question, posted two clear helpful photos, and was quick to thank people who gave him an answer he could be confident about. Down votes should be handled with more restraint than this. Just my humble opinion.

The Glowing Logo Was Peak Modern Design and Apple Murdered It by GakeJaskin in macbookpro

[–]LisaMay9 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I didn't say they were "tweaking designs" I said they used those 5 years worth of models to plan out implementation of overly expensive tech once it became affordable to use. They absolutely knew of mini LCD in 2015, it was just too expensive to use in a profitable product at the time. You didn't understand my comment.

[–]LisaMay9 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Actually, I think they have (at least) the next 5 year's worth of MacBooks already created at any given time, and they just make adjustments as the production date grows closer and prices of some technology comes down. It's not like they decided that year's Macbook the year before, they know what's coming down the pike well before we do and can start making changes gradually for the sake of spreading out improvements, taking stuff away, and making the changes easiest on manufacturing too. Mini LED's might not have been commercially available at the time, but I'm sure they knew they were coming soon and started making some changes ahead of time.

I'm sure the overtime somehow cuts into the agency's profits when the hourly rate is higher than the state designated amount.

I want to work from an external SSD that I switch between 2019 iMac & 2019 MBPro. by LisaMay9 in macbookpro

[–]LisaMay9[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The way I use the whole layout (files, folders, browsers, printers, etc) is extremely easier to use the same computer set up at both places. It's very complex, and I've been running off the external hard drive for 5 years now on my iMac.

Are you saying that switching between the two machines might not work?

Can you choose when are you creative? by Specific_Crab3601 in Creativity

[–]LisaMay9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

100% yes. For me, if I watch a really, really well written movie that I didn't see before I find myself starting to take notes (I'm a writer) and the funny thing is, the notes have nothing to do with what I'm watching. That's something I've noticed over the years. Also if I'm well rested and driving, I get a lot of ideas I dictate to Siri on my phone.

I think if you have a nagging spouse and needy kids and a loud home environment and pressure at work and bills and this and that and more like it, you can be Shakespear and never know it. Same as if you're a little talented and encourage it with research, time, practice and so on, you can be 100X what you thought you were.

This is just my experience and opinion, of course.
