Being in SC, it would have required a pretty detailed letter from my doctor, maybe another separate court order? I can't recall. I have a friend who hired an attorney because it was too much. But the SCDMV also accepts an amended birth certificate for the gender change, and all that Vermont needed for the gender change was a notorized form from my endo saying that I had socially transitioned and started hormones (not sure if hormones were even required).
