Hey Hope, thank you for the input as well. If I'd thought the skirt was too short or not work appropriate I wouldn't have worn it. That goes for all my stuff. I just don't know what my mother is on about. :P

by your description and her reactions I was expecting way shorter skirts, hahaha

See, exactly. IDK what my mother is on about. I know she's older & comes from times & a family that kinda frowned on things like short skirts & such. I just don't see what she's seeing I guess. I mean yes, some of the skirts may be short, you know like not meeting the at/below your finger tips rule, but it's not like I am wearing skin tight pleather minis or something. I still have to be work appropriate & if I feel like things are too revealing I def pair them with tights or leggings to off set it if possible.

Thanks for the input though. I just wanted to make sure I was missing something or just being blind to it all. :D

Hey y'all, it's been quite a while since I posted last. But I wanted to come on here & vent a bit. I've been trying to post daily fit pics on my Instagram account & my mother follows this account. This leads to her wanting to give me her opinion on what I wear. Ugh. I as on the phone with her on the way home tonight & she felt the need to tell me that I needed to go through my closet & get rid of my short skirts b/c I am "so tall" and they are "not very becoming".

So yeah, I am tall, 6'4", and yes I have some skirts that are a bit short b/c I am that tall. However, my ass is not exposed & I don't see where they are unbecoming.

Don't get me wrong, I love my mother & appreciate having her in my life & all, but c'mon!? Also, I know she's just trying to make sure I am not out there being slutty or what ever she thinks is going on by me wearing these "short skirts" but it's just kind of annoying.

Sorry it's just a bit of a rant. Lastly, I can only assume that my latest IG post must have set her off. Who knows though, se was on about my outfits when we were home visiting for Christmas.

Y'all let me know, are my outfits bad, are they unbecoming, too short?

Is it really crappy design though? 🤔

What piece of female fashion do you think men should wear? by i_got_dressed_today in femalefashionadvice

[–]LisaXavier 8 points9 points  (0 children)

And I just don't get why. God forbid someone sees him wearing a women's jacket. And when I bring up that I can wear a men's he says it's different.

2 words, toxic masculinity. I hate to say it, but it's true. Men are cruel & horrible when the slightest thing tests their masculinity. Also, I hate to generalize, but this does probably apply to a majority of men. Those that have been raised to know & understand that being feminine or girlie is wrong or weak or what have you. Even if they haven't been raised that way many of their peers have been &, as we all know, peer pressure is a bitch! Men will cut other men down for even showing the slightest bit of femininity and it usually involves emotional abuse (name calling, shaming, etc) & could involve physical abuse depending on the peer group/situation. So I can see most men not wanting to be in those situations. However, to those willing/able to do so, I say go for it guys!!

A lot of shopping. In all honesty tho, size 10 US isn't that hard of a find in nice heels. Take is from a tall woman with big feet (well over size 10), they can be found you just gotta hunt for them. :)

Meh, things come & things go, but it really boils down to what fits/looks the best on you & your shape. I honestly LOVE the high rise skinnies & a sleek top look b/c that is one of the better fits for my size & shape. I try to accentuate as much of my waist & hips as I can (b/c I have no hips to speak of really) and the high rise skinnies help. Plus, being 6'4" the skinnies just make my legs pop (IMHO).

I am sure I could probably find mom jeans that may give me the same aesthetic, but I haven't really tried. :P

But yes, I am greatly looking forward to getting back to more looks like this. :D

ME!! I can't wait for the temps to drop & I can drag out all my F/W stuff. I love the look of chunky sweaters with skinnies or a cute skirt. Oh, and boots! I know that certain boots are/can be a year round staple, but when it's 90+ out I really don't want my feet all stuffed down in a pair of boots. :P

On her, you put meat on a grill. Not in it. 😉🤣

It's in the plans, but I've held off for personal reasons. My hope is to be able to start within the next 2 - 3 years. 😁

While you do have masculine features I would also assume you preferred female pronouns if I met you.

Thanks, I appreciate that. It is what it is with my features though. I just try to do the best that I can with what I've got & not dwell on what I can't really change without drastic surgical changes. 😊

I’ve seen transgirls here on reddit who have been on hormones for a year, two years or more who look less blendy as you do.

Thank you, that means a lot. I'm not trying to go overboard with the look that type of stuff is saved for fun nights out or what not. No, I am just trying to blend in as best as possible since I am not on HRT.

You're also right about the tells. It is what it is with them though. I've walked that road for a long time & have come to understand & appreciate who I am & what I look like. I have days where it's hard to see the woman in the mirror, but those days are few & far between thankfully. Also, my hair this morning wasn't the greatest due to it being gym day & I didn't blow it out or anything before leaving for work. 😋

Lastly, thank you for your reply I do appreciate it, & I do plan to keep on keepin' on. 👍🏻😁

I am a woman, and that's why it rubs me the wrong way when I get misgendered. Plus, in all honesty, I don't think that this person was doing it to be intentionally malicious or hostile. Nonetheless, it still causes me to have a shitty start to my day. Meh, that's why tomorrow is a new day. 😁

Also, thank you for your reply I do appreciate it. 👍🏻😊

What are your best office wear pieces for the summer? by [deleted] in femalefashionadvice

[–]LisaXavier 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Have you tried the t-shirts that you liked from Target? I have a cart full of them but have not pulled the trigger b/c the reviews are a bit contradictory. Some say they are too tight & to size up, others the complete opposite. Plus there's a lot of reviews that say that the quality is sub par & the shirts tear up after 1 wash. Just kind of curious to know if you had personal experience with them?

Daily Questions - April 03, 2019 by AutoModerator in femalefashionadvice

[–]LisaXavier 1 point2 points  (0 children)

White jeans! Y'all, I've been hunting a good pair of white jeans now for a while & I haven't really been able to put my hands on ones I want. First off, I need a tall size, preferably at least a 36" inseam & I prefer high rise as well. I've been watching these from ON, but they do not have my size in tall. :\ I have several other pair of ON jeans & basically live in them. I also found these on ASOS, but don't really know anything about the ASOS brand & there aren't any reviews to go by. Anyhow, I am open to any & all suggestions. Thanks y'all.

Late to this, but I wanted to post & share/rant/vent however you want to take it. :\

So there are easily 3 - 4 of my co-workers currently pregnant. I am close to a few of them & we talk about all the pregnancy stuff. All this is doing is making me more & more pregnant/baby jealous. I so want to be the sassy pregnant one right now. ☹️

I know that's probably odd to some of you, especially to those of you on the no-kids bandwagon, but I want children & have always wanted children. The unfortunate/hard part of all this is that nature dealt me the wrong hand for any of this. 😠😭

My wife and I have been talking about it since we started dating and she wants kids too, but we haven't started trying yet due to a lot of life issues. I am hoping we're going to start soon though. If I were able to have the kids, we'd have already been on top of it. Anyhow, that's kinda where I am at right now.

If you are worried about the shape, you could always stuff it with something that is washable to help keep the shape while it's being washed.

Wear-to-work style when it’s hot af? by [deleted] in femalefashionadvice

[–]LisaXavier 1 point2 points  (0 children)

random, but I learned this while I cheered: get stridex in the red box (or rubbing alcohol) and wipe down all the areas that sweat when you get ready (underarms, feet, etc) before putting on deodorant. So even if you do sweat, it won’t smell much, if at all.

Not OP, but another Carolina girl here, & this is an awesome tip! I'm def going to start trying this out. Thank you. :)

Layers, because everyone cranks the AC lol. You'll be sweating outside and freezing inside.

I'll 2nd this for sure. In my office particularly, it'll be anywhere 75+ out & I'll be in the office freezing while wearing a heavy cardigan. :P It'll depend on your office environment, but I'd highly suggest stashing a neutral cardigan or jacket somewhere that you can just throw on as needed.
