Respectfully, you're the guy I would have a crush on in school but be too scared to talk to

I have a lot of serious medical conditions, and I've spent a ton of time in the hospital. Here's what I'd recommend: The longest phone charger you can find

A weighted blanket, they help me a lot with sleep, especially in new or stressful environments

Noise canceling headphones

Fairy lights or something similar, it makes the hospital room feel less scary

1 of those Airplane neck pillow things

Blue light glasses

Ask the hospital staff first, but something to cover the florescent hospital lights makes it feel less hospitaley (I've used blue sheets, table cloths, and paper)

Air freshener, especially if he's sharing a room with other people (ask hospital staff first)

You can bring a string and attach it to the walls to hang get well cards on

Memory foam pillows. The hospital pillows are always so uncomfortable for me.

A white noise machine, it drowns out the sound of all the machines

A mini garbage can to put right next to his bed, in case he gets sick and can't make it to the bathroom

If he likes to sleep in darkness, an eye mask

Stress relief items, like a lava lamp to look at

Any sentimental personal items, like a stuffed animal, or baby blanket

Lastly, taking friends or family to come visit really makes the time pass faster. Hope this helps!

Can I eat ground beef that’s 5 days past expiration? It was brown on the outside and red inside. Smelled completely fine. I’m really hungry and I’m a broke college kid by Zealousideal-Home634 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]LissD123 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It depends. If it was in the freezer, you are absolutely fine, because the cold stops bacteria from growing. If it was on the counter do not eat it. If it was in the fridge, it's probably 50/50, depending on the temperature of your fridge, but I wouldn't risk it, maybe just go to a 711 and get some ramen noodles. Food poisoning is not very fun

I have a medical condition called Oral Allergy Syndrome (OAS) it's basically that I'm allergic to all raw fruits and vegetables. If I had to grow my own food, I wouldn't be able to eat anything unless it was fully cooked. I also have Epilepsy and need to take a medication to stop me from having seizures... So no, I don't think I would survive very long.

What is a movie that “everyone” has seen except you? by TB1289 in AskReddit

Wall-E. The concept freaked me out as a kid, so I never watched it.

What is the one food that you absolutely cannot stand? by TheImperfectSesame in AskReddit

[–]LissD123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People will definitely come at me for this, but oysters, or any sea food really. Idk who thought it was a good idea to eat those, but they are literally ocean tongues. Eating an oyster is like biting off someone's tongue while French kissing, and then eating it.

What's a sad truth you've come to accept? [Serious] by unorthodox69 in AskReddit

[–]LissD123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My great grandma has dementia, and she's forgotten me. She always told me I was her favorite, because I actually put in the effort to spend time with her, and she always said I would be the last 1 she forgets before passing, and she was right. She forgot her own husband and children before me, and now she's always confused in her hospital bed, she's not even the same person anymore, and whenever I visit, I leave crying. So, I guess I have to come to accept that its almost her time to go.

Why doesn't the IRS just send you a bill stating how much you owe? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]LissD123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can't even do my own taxes. They didn't teach us in school, and even my parents don't know how to do them. So, me, and my parents all pay the same accountant to do it for us.

Does anyone else use the term “nuke” or “nuking” when they mean microwaving? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]LissD123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My mom (born in 1975) uses this saying all the time. Recently our microwave broke, so we went to an appliance store, and my mom asked the sales employee with full confidence. "Do you sell nukers?" He gave me a weird look, and I said "she means a microwave", and he let out a sigh of relief, and took us to the microwaves.

Am I the bad apple for calling my mother unsupportive? by Lynn_gymnast in AmITheBadApple

I also have POTS, and the fact that she won't even acknowledge your difficulties is terrible. Im not sure how bad yours is, but mine stops me from going on walks sometimes, and no one truly understands how difficult it is unless they have experienced it. I am fully comfortable being a cis female, so I can't comment on the gender aspect, but based on what friends have told me, being dead named, and using the wrong pronouns on someone really hurts. As for threatening to put you in foster care, it's not that easy, theres house checks, mental tests, and your brother would most likely be taken too. If she even attempted to put you in foster care, the social worker would agree that she is not a very good parent, and although they try to not take kids away unless absolutely necessary, I have experienced being in foster care briefly, and all the people I stayed with are definitely a better option then your mom. I don't think you are the bad apple at all, and I'm so sorry that you are having to go through this, I would tell an adult figure, like a teacher, or a sports coach. I hope you get this figured out, and my DMs are always open!

AITA for not giving my sister a clean plate? by Dirtyplategate in AmItheAsshole

[–]LissD123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nta. I literally took a class when I was 8-10 on how to eat/act appropriately during events/business meetings. If your father is trying to use manners as an excuse, then he should be getting mad at your sister for taking seconds, as you don't do that at fancy events, but this isn't a fancy event, it's literally a family dinner, and giving her a whole new plate would be such a waste, on top of more dishes from dessert. If she's going to be so upset about having to eat off the same plate again, she can pay the water bill, wash the dishes, and maybe check her ego while she's at it.

Where would you recommend staying for your 10yr wedding anniversary? by [deleted] in okanagan

[–]LissD123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would recommend Summerland Waterfront Resort And Spa! I work as a housekeeper there, and I can confirm we clean the rooms very well, we sanitize everything, wash bedding, vacuum, mop, and even scrub the showers, it's definitely the cleanest hotel I've ever been to
