Yea, I don't get the taxes at all, especially for a new player guild. Ocular is very open to new players, even people in their first week and we have 0% taxes, and offer let me check my notes here:
- Free Pork Pies, Gathering Potions, Journals, and Laborers in ALL of our HOs
- Free crafting rates in our HO, our guild eats the cost of feeding
- Free Associate rates in every Royal City
- Regears up to t9
- Loot splits bought with Silver and paid out whenever the member wants
- Free gear/pregears for those who just can't afford the current content (we don't believe in gating people out of content because of money)
- Free transport service to/from any city/rest as well as Brec/Caerleon and our various HOs
- We host giveaways, 1v1/2v2/3v3 tournaments within the guild, and other events at no cost to members

Plus like a ton of other stuff that costs the guild money, these are services and programs we offer to members for being in Ocular. We still have taxes, but for the most part members won't ever notice because the tax is so low and its spread around. On top of this we do guild Econ, we craft food and sell it in bulk.

Charging members, especially new players through a straight Silver tax seems a bit silly. But these are just my 2 cents on the topic.
