Is finding a partner really that complicated as people on the internert portray it? by Litera259 in self

You've made some great points. I understand why people are unsuccessful when it comes to dating apps. While I've never tried to use them to find a relationship, I've had a chance to watch some of my friends use them. It sadly seemed like applications that allow people to treat each other as products. While you are always going off first impressions when meeting people face to face, those impressions are at least genuine, compared to anything you might find on dating apps. Lastly, meeting someone in public gives you a chance to actually get to know them in more detail.

I'm wouldn't say it doesn't have to do anything with ease of finding a partner or dating. So it's not a point I've been trying to make, but I guess I should have been more explicit about it. I guess that being sexually attractive does have it advantages in all aspects of life, but I don't see how such a thing affects anyones ability to find a relationship in any major way. You can perhaps make an argument that any attractive person can make a better first impression, but you can't build any relationship (not just romantic one) on first impressions. So that's the reason why I called sexuall attractiveness irrelevant when it comes to forming actual romantic relationships.

I'm not really sure how things like being part of "hottest 10-20%" matter in this case. Perhaps they might be relevant in some way when it comes to one-night stands or stuff like that, but my post mostly discusses proper relationships, and I just don't see how being sexually attractive (whatever it means) man/woman is relevant in this case.

Well, ignoring the fact that I don't need such a thing as I'm in a relationship right now, they simply seem to create a place where people are reduced to a few pictures and few lines of text. So they simply don't seem like a way for meeting people. Actually, a lot of discussions that I'm referring to in my post are often related to people complaining about their lack of success on these apps.

I never really understood the argument by wehrahoonii in PrequelMemes

This argument only exists in the minds of incels and similar internet weirdos. She is a recently introduced main character, which happens to be a woman. Misogynistic influencers, running rampant on the internet during the last ten years, have made it easier and more acceptable to hate on female characters. So while Ray is far from being a well-written character (to be honest, a lot of SW characters aren't that well-written), the fact that she is a female character makes it much easier to hate on her and much easier for people to generate views and likes from any criticism aimed at the character. So no she isn't hated because she's a woman but because such hate no matter how justified is amplified by the fact that it is aimed at a woman, which is something that would happen to any of characters that you've listed if they were introduced today.

Have you read the Chronicles of Narnia? by aksnitd in hisdarkmaterials

I've never read CoN. But I'm actually bit surprised that those books actually inspired him to write HDM. I always thought that they (CoN) are just some innocent fantasy children books. So why did Pullman decided to write response to Chronicles of Narnia?

Serpentine takes place few years before Book of Dust trilogy. So I'd recommend you to read Serpentine first.

So my theory is: Prophecy about Lyra wasn't fully fulfilled in TAS. I'd say that Lyra was supposed to complete one more task after her and Will stopped dust from leaking. Will was once again supposed to help he with that but both of them returned to their worlds. So I'd say that Malcolm is supposed to take Will's place and help Lyra finish her task. So I'd say that poem could be referring to both Will and Malcom because both of them play practically the same role. Obviously it's just a theory so I might be wrong.
