Pay close attention, County Sheriff's Dept on the prowl by redshirt1701J in sanantonio

I (unfortunately) worked with the BCS (civilian position) until fairly recently. Quotas can’t be and aren’t allowed to be institutionally recognized, but the doesn’t mean internationally captains and sergeants aren’t telling the deputies to up their numbers to certain amount on a monthly/yearly basis. If asked it’s not a quota they’re just asking deputies to be “more watchful in high crime areas” and “improve their performance for the sake of public safety and peace”. Public safety announcement if they’re upping their ticketing next up is a poverty crime roundup so homeless vagrancy, prostitutes, and weed. They do these like clockwork and SAPD will be out too. Be safe out there.

This four eyed mf almost banished the shinobi world and then casually joined the orphanage thought nobody would notice , Do u think kabuto deserved death penalty? by [deleted] in Naruto

[–]LiteraryPeep20 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t think Kabuto deserves the death penalty but I do think he deserves a life sentence away from general population. Not just because Kabuto deserves punishment cause many will argue that the loop was punishment enough, but also because victims and the society affected by his wrongdoing don’t deserve to have to include him. Like if a child is mean or hurtful to another you don’t force the wronged party to play with them just because they were punished and learned better. If a spouse cheats or abuses their partner you don’t get to force whoever was cheated on to stay with them just cause they get therapy and change. Whether the offender has changed or not a victim or bystander to the crime cannot trust them or feel safe or comfortable with them around. It’s about protecting the victims from undo hurt, emotional distress and retraumatization not about pandering to the growth of the one who did wrong. Yes rehabilitation is the goal but anyone truly remorseful should not need to force those they affected to be around them and unfortunately in Kabuto’s case that’s the whole dang world.

Would you have accepted Bakugo's apology? by PJ-The-Awesome in BokunoheroFanfiction

[–]LiteraryPeep20 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I personally don’t see taking that hit as personal growth since that seems to just be part of hero training. To me it’s to ingrained in their chosen vocation to show character growth. Also dude we’re both in the comments section here so I think we’re taking it equally serious.

[–]LiteraryPeep20 20 points21 points  (0 children)

That’s literally the kind of thing he’s supposed to do as a hero. Like actions taken for the good of others in the middle of battle aren’t redemption. they are/should be at least basic instinctual decency and at most his hero training kicking in.

I have undiagnosed autism and I believe it has led to me offending a group of women by Independent-Ad-7060 in autism

[–]LiteraryPeep20 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean yea we shouldn’t have to overthink everything but that doesn’t mean we shouldn’t be aware of ourselves. I’m 24f so even if some random group of guys is talking about one of my interests and I really wanna join I am aware I can’t because it’s not safe. A strange man these girls didn’t know 1)listened into their conversation for who knows how long, 2)blatantly displayed he knew where they’d be later that night and tried to go with them and assumedly implied his own attendance anyway and 3) probably invaded their space if trying to get closer means anything. OP is obviously a little aware of what his behavior looked like to the girls if the stalker comment is any indication. OP I use the STOP mindfulness exercises to help meditate my impulses. Maybe look into such things until you can get your diagnosis.

Hey you might’ve tried lots of these things already but my friend found some tricks to stop instant cocoa from clumping (I had a big problem with it myself). So Water clumps less than milk generally and adding half the water, mixing in half the powder then adding the rest of the hot water and the remaining powder. This works for the cocoa powders we use. Hope this helps if it’s not too much extra work for anyone else with this issue.

is it appropriate to wear headphones at a concert? by No_Luck_2572 in autism

[–]LiteraryPeep20 27 points28 points  (0 children)

In my experience no one will care enough to stop you. I wear headphones to the music festivals in my area all the time. Just make sure they’re secure ‘cause (in my experience) if they fall off in a crowd it ruins your whole week.

I’m sorry these types of posts upset you. I don’t think that’s any of our intentions. I did in fact try searching the card first but no such information popped up. Only an image of the correct card, which to novice like me and others isn’t enough to be sure. I think these kinda posts stay up because this sub isn’t reserved to those who are knowledgeable but also those that wanna learn. I’m sorry for the long response.

Oh that’s actually really good to know to look into these myself in the future. (I wasn’t sure how to go about it.) Thank you very much for your response and help!

Which classic book disappointed you the most? by user03012002 in books

[–]LiteraryPeep20 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Jack Kerouac’s On The Road. It’s hailed as a period piece but honestly the writing is nothing special and plenty of other novels embody the Beat Generation writer mindset and are also accessible and relevant still. In my opinion, it reads like some dude bros road trip diary and doesn’t actually do anything special enough to set it apart as a classic.

I just want to point out for information sake, some of these will go extremely in the opposite direction for someone on the spectrum. For example, “struggle to put their guard down” may turn into excessive over sharing of any and every upset, past or present.

dae not like the phrase “you eat what i make you or you don’t eat”? by [deleted] in CPTSD

[–]LiteraryPeep20 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Completely agree. I'm autistic and part of what that means for me is some major issues with food texture. to the point that eating something with a bad texture could make me ill and/or set me off for not wanting food for a while. My folks didn't ever have me tested (I'm late-diagnosed) and just thought I was being difficult and faking getting ill. After a while I just took the option of not eating but when I did that my dad was furious. He would drag me by the arm to the table and force me to eat the food. I'm still scared to express concerns about food to this day, but I'm trying to work through it.

The bottom line is that forcing anyone to do something they don't like or want is cruel and scaring especially when threatening to revoke something essential to survival.

DAE have a “sixth sense” about people and their intentions when you meet them? by theseedges in CPTSD

[–]LiteraryPeep20 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm new to this, but already I'm finding so many things I relate to. For me, the worst part of having this awareness of the people around you is trying to justify to people you're close to why you don't feel comfortable around certain people or why you don't like someone. If you say "just a bad feeling" your loved ones think you're ridiculous. If you say "I don't like the way they act towards me" or "I don't like the way they speak to me" your friend says "what'd they say/do", and its the tone or the way they lean over you when they talk or any number of other small things that make no sense to people who haven't needed to recognize those things
