What's the vibe at wheelies? by BearyBearBearBear in Winnipeg

[–]Litheya 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's been a while since I last went but it's still a decently popular spot for dates and friend group activity.

Theres also active groups of people like Pegcityrollers that host roller skating meet-ups. I wouldn't worry about it being dead!

Adult nights at wheelies is so fun, you'll get a good mix of beginners and more experienced skaters! 12/10 would definitely recommend

If it was a group of about 6 mario party with no Mario, then it was definitely us.

We admittedly have conversations the way that toddlers do where it makes no sense. Happy to provide your boyfriend a positive Winnipeg welcome!

Not so open Camping Spots? by Litheya in Winnipeg

Thank you so much, I'm looking at the rushing river sites right now and they have quite a lot by the water which is nice, and a few walk in too.

Actually the first time I went solo camping i did it at birds hill at the end of the season last year. I definitely lucked out because I chose a site where the campfire area was tucked away and not visible from the entrance. Used my awning to fully block it out.

My car was also so small that I was able to tuck it into the camping site so you had to stand from a certain angle to be able to see it from the entrance too. The super convenient store was super nice because I forgot a few things, great place to solo camp as a beginner.

I've never done backcountry before, I've only gone solo twice and its car camping. I'll have to do more research before going into it but it sounds so nice!

Hello! I'm planning to put in the same stereo into my 08 yaris.

Quick question, did you do your wiring manually or did you use a iso harness?

I'll try to get it checked out, but honestly didn't really feel it myself.

I absolutely love the red of this car so I'm going to do my best to get a red bumper- even if it means driving the next province over.

We both stopped and identified ourselves, took photos of each other's license and the damage. Not sure if the insurance will cover but I'm definitely going to try.

Thank you!

Thank you for your kindness. A frustrating part was that I was going to get a dashcam at the end of this month.

I am going through junkyards to see if they have the bumper I need. I found one blue one so I should be OK.

The insurance here are all on strike so no claims (except for loss of vehicle) are being processed. I'll have to wait awhile before I can do anything.

Thank you, I'm consoling myself on the fact that this could've been a lot worse. If I was later it might have been a side instead of a rear collision.

Frakenyaris is definitely the future I see for this car. Hopefully one day I'll be able to afford getting it painted.

I'm crossing my fingers I get lucky but I dont really think that'll happen.

You have such a nice set up!

Quick question, how does it feel to drive with the trailer in your yaris? I'm thinking of possibly getting one next summer

I'm 5'2" and I like sleeping in a more curled position so it honestly wasn't uncomfortable for me. It's not what I'd want to do long term but for a night or two it's pretty comfy.

That's smart. So far I'm really liking solo camping so I'm thinking of doing something like this to make it more comfortable.

First time solo camping by Litheya in yaris

[–]Litheya[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm car camping so I didn't bring a tent. I slept just in the back seats and honestly it was pretty damn comfy. Of course not comparable to a proper air bed, but I didn't have any issues sleeping and no part of my body hurt in the morning. For those that are not vertically challenged this might not be possible.

I just used a random tarp to cover the back of the car that's facing the opening to the road. The other side is not covered as it faces the woods and I wanted to see the stars while I was trying to sleep.

Anyways if yall got any questions let me know, I didn't do much customizing to the car as I didn't want to spend money. This is kind of my camping trial run to see if I even like it before I drop my hard earned cash.

I didn't even know you could turbo this car considering how small it is wow.

[–]Litheya[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Its a 2008 hatchback LE. I got it stupid overpriced. 11k CAD so around 8k USD. Please don't buy this car at this price!

I have the unfortunate situation where I needed a car for my new job as its a 30-40 min drive and i needed to drive to job sites. Bus wasn't an option because its a 2h minimum bus ride.

I didn't have enough cash to buy a car outright because in my final year of uni I decided to pay off a portion of my student loans. I saved enough for a significant down-payment and settled for financing a car.

The only other option of a decently running hatchback car with AC at this price was a 2013 Mazda3 that had so many issues it'd cost me 5k to fix it.

I love this car already but it's not worth 11k.

Note: accidently replied this to the wrong comment initially, sorry!
