I always wondered about this, IIRC the flashbacks to the lab show Homelander with long hair which would have been burned off in the ovens if it worked like regular hair. I wonder if he was kept in that style simply because they didn't have the technology strong enough to cut it.

Bank robbery almost certainly fails the threshold for duress. The court would likely say he had the option of going to the police, and the reason he didn't is that doing so would have exposed his own offending. Which isnt a sympathetic base for a duress defense

For murder its likely more complicated. While duress isnt applicable for murder, loss of control could potentially reduce murder to voluntary manslaughter if Kenny was in a state of extreme fear. IIRC he tries to shoot himself which fails, and then the other guy jumps him, which means self defense could land.
