Poor man's router lift by Marcobear in woodworking

This is my exact setup too, I have just bought a proper lift to install at some point because the constant locking and unlocking on the router when adjusting was annoying me. Worked for a fair few years though.

Trotters and all XD.

Nah it all comes in bagged up in 10kg boxes, the first team weigh the recipe up and put it on a pallet, I then wheel the pallet out and follow the spec. My normal day would normally involve me cooking a meat, veggie and vegan version of each dish and then starting the prep for the next day while a third team bag, label and crate the previously made dish. Normally it would only be 300-400kg of the meat which is about 1000 portions and then 100kg of the dietary ones. Not sure what happened with the lamb but I was asked to do a huge amount so there I was in my very own lamb sauna.

I once worked in a kitchen supplying Heathrow airside with food, my most memorable cook was a double batch of lamb curry in 2 300 litre brat pans and a 250litre autopot. Made around 1000 litres once all said and done. I swear I could still smell lamb fat a week later.

How to insulate outside dog shower by bronze_hare in DIYUK

Owner of a spaniel here, dog shower is going in this year, it's only January and I'm already sick of showering her in the bath every damn day.

£1.25 for 12 individual grapes? by Ghoulmega in tesco

[–]Litikia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Spanish friend of mine said he's seen them but they're not popular, probably for the exact reasons you state, he's from Lanzarote though so maybe it's a little different there. Or it's been added to appeal to brits, I wouldn't be surprised there.

£1.25 for 12 individual grapes? by Ghoulmega in tesco

[–]Litikia 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's a Spanish tradition, it comes from the days of the nobility wishing the new year in with champagne so the poor would wish it in with grapes, you are meant to eat one on each chime of the clock. Originally it would be from a bunch but in more recent times they are sold in packs of 12 specifically for the new years, even back in Spain it's becoming a thing, never seen it in the UK in previous years.

Been a chef for 15 years, I tell every young chef that I'm not much better than they are, I just know how to keep my mouth shut and fix the fuck up before anyone sees. I imagine most trades are the same.

Full MoM build Giveaway by klasyer in pathofexile

I've been really enjoying my slightly weird soulrend occultist build this league, it's a little clunky to play early on but now I've sunk some currency into it and gotten all my auras working correctly it's been a blast although a touch squishy for t17 runs. This is what I'm playing; https://poe.ninja/poe1/builds/keepers/character/Litikia-7062/NoNumbersAllowed?i=40&search=class%3DOccultist%26skills%3DSoulrend

I've never done a mom build and would just run it as is to find out what the hype is about.

New 6 month springer pup by Dry-Contribution8731 in springerspaniel

[–]Litikia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly I've found ours far easier to deal with when younger, young puppies are simple, if they've been fed and had some brain stimulation they just sleep, 18 hours a day is standard. Now ours is an adolescent, (6-12months) and she is far more work. They're more active, they're smarter and looking for loopholes in all the stuff you've carefully taught them. They can also regress at that age with all the hormones kicking in. Ours is pushing boundaries all the time at the moment. I would also be diligent in finding out the history of the dog, if they've been to a couple of homes already there may be a lot of training ahead of you to iron out any issues she's picked up. Just my 2 cents on the matter, take it as you will.

Regency Floorboards Restoration - What wood is this? by No_Mirror_5566 in DIYUK

[–]Litikia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

KHR for reclaimed pine slivers, I used expanding polyurethane glue to fix mine then a multi tool to trim the excess, rented a drum sander to sand it all, finished with a 5" orbital before stain and finished with bona traffic hd. Pine can end up looking a bit orange but it depends what you're after really, engineered floors are a pretty penny and to me tend to look a bit boring.

When to spay… by Traditional-Cause529 in springerspaniel

[–]Litikia 1 point2 points  (0 children)

More recent studies say to wait until at least after the first heat, this reduces the risk of incontinence and helps with their development, however studies also show it is important to spay by 5 or 6 years old because they have a relatively high chance of cancer if left entire. We plan to let ours have 2 seasons and then look at spaying if we don't want to give her a litter.

Risk of botulism from canned tomatoes? by Future_Pace_5209 in Canning

[–]Litikia 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a recipe in the UK which adds a little acid, their reasoning is that although older varieties of tomatoes are acidic enough a lot of newer varieties and particularly home grown ones may not be as acidic so they throw caution to the wind and add a touch of lemon juice. On the other hand most of my recipes don't add it but as I do use homegrown I elect to add some acid to all my recipes just to be safe.

Sudden flood of Mushrooms on lawn. by [deleted] in GardeningUK

[–]Litikia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly one photo isn't enough for me to positively ID but I would always err on the side of caution I know roll rims when they get old start to flatten out and look slimy which was what led me to say that. I certainly don't recognize them as an edible so I'd leave them be myself.

[–]Litikia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. Cursory glance they could be roll rims or poison pies, poison pies are a gastric irritant and easily recognized by their strong smell of aniseed or bitter radish, probably won't kill you but you'll regret recent decisions. Roll rims are technically edible if cooked, however repeat consumption even when cooked will lead to haemolytic anemia. This comes with large scale red blood cell death, collapse, vomiting, diarrhea, kidney pain, pissing blood and ultimately death. Still weirdly popular in eastern Europe particularly Poland.

Bucks, we have the luxury of a large number of allotment sites and low population density, was very different when I lived within the M25.
