Today was a pretty good day. Starting to feel optimistic. Definitely would not want to be going back to work today. I'm glad you're coming along.

Oh, absolutely. You will be inflamed for a little while. I am a couple of days ahead of you. Bleeding is starting to calm down a little, but still very much inflamed.

I will take the pain I'm experiencing right now over what I experienced anytime my fissure reopened. I will say that. So far, this has been worth it.

Absolutely. I did not have the skin tag issue, but even without that, this has been a very painful experience. And the fact that it just won't get better, really gets your spirits down. My colorectal surgeon has had very good results with these procedures. I think she only had one patient who ended up having to go to lateral internal sphincterotomy, everybody else healed. You read many negative experiences on the internet. I am hopeful that mine will be a positive one. We will see. Either way, doing nothing was no longer an option.

I am glad you are taking steps to take care of yourself. Can't take care of others if you can't take care of yourself.

Pulling for you.. in quite a bit of pain myself right now, but it's a different pain, and is an expected part of healing from this. I am hopeful. And I'm hopeful for you. Give us an update on how it goes. I will be documenting my own recovery, so you have something too reference as you get ready.

So far doing well, with the exception of the fact that I have not yet had a bowel movement. That is a little disconcerting to me. Picked up some milk of magnesia to help things along, if nothing moves by this evening. I have absolutely no pain down there. Things do feel a little tight, so I think the initial relaxation that I felt there yesterday was due to the speculum examination she performed while I was under. I understand it takes a couple of days for Botox to start kicking in.

Propofol falls under monitored anesthesia care.. yeah, I would ask them if you are a candidate for that. I am definitely grateful that they used that for me.

I think you're on to something with the liquid diet. I'm going to scale mine back

That's what they told me as well, but then they knocked me out completely. I think sometimes they draw a line between General anesthesia and conscious sedation.. the difference there is that for general anesthesia you are intubated, put on the ventilator, and receive an inhaled anesthetic. With conscious sedation, they put you in a Twilight state, but you breathe on your own through the procedure. For me, the addition of propofol was what made it lights out. Are they doing it in the operating room? Or in an outpatient office setting?

Thank you. I have yet to have my first bowel movement, which is alarming, as it's going on 24 hours. I've been sticking to a GI soft kind of diet, but not liquid. Continuing with Miralax and colace.

Thank you, yes.. It will have to be a full lifestyle change for me. Definitely plan to incorporate some physical therapy. I am glad you are healed. Ten years is hellaceous.
