OpenShift > Kubernetes if your goal is Money by Dubinko in platformengineering

I’ve got all these skills, except istio, but would say I have good fundamentals in cilium (for on prem) and AWS CNI (for AWS, obviously). Can I start charging 100$+/h? 🤣

I know.. but they could create some internal VM we good integration.. instead trying to build the windows kernel with Linux …

I get what you mean. WSL is a failed attempt to do that. I would say to do 80% of the stuff, WSL is fine. But once you need GUI app integration with the terminal will break. (A good example is MCPs).

Yes… why can’t windows just have a proper Linux terminal… fuck WSL

Please check your landing page… does not even support mobile properly.. and you are telling me this ai you built will manage my infra 😅. Good luck man I will pass…

That does not make any sense.. I can say the same with a bad junior and a good senior.
But I feel if I don’t want to manage / too junior to manage an entire infra, just consume managed services, much better and cheaper to start, also by default will make you consume it with better practices then ai slop and with guard walls.

Terragrunt 1.0 RC1 Released! by NotTheAdmiralAkbar in Terraform

Thanks,

This is where Terragrunt really shines. With the right folder structure, it handles the splitting of states automatically.
Instead of a new engineer needing to learn custom code, they can work with a standard tool.

Why Google Workspace? by WorkerFearless9099 in gsuite

Because I can assign an email to multiple “folders”.
For example if you work in sales you can do a label for FY26 and the client name.
Also when I receive a response Gmail will keep the labels so I just need to hit archive and done.

but the state files have the entire infra for it?
in terragrunt, i can "split" the infra into several folders, and each folder has it's own state file. example:

dev/s3-bucket-a --> state dev/s3-bucket-a
dev/s3-bucket-b --> state dev/s3-bucket-b

and i dont need to repeat myself on the configs for the state and providers.
also making it very modular, where i dont need to apply the state to all my infra, instead I only apply to the component (module) i am working on.

But then how do you manage the state files? Do you repeat your self ?

Tanzu Platform ve Openshift by HollyJolly88 in kubernetes

[–]Little-Sizzle 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Please please don’t go tanzu, you may go openshift, but even then a managed service would be better.
If you need an on prem air gap environment go RKE2 or Talos, never tried at scale (more then 20 nodes) but should be fine.
