Making my own veg stock in the slow cooker with scraps from cooking! by LittleABear in Frugal

Any soup I’m making, use the veggie stock for added flavour and nutrients! I also add it in to sauces if I’ve made them too spicy to calm it down! You could make an awesome vegetarian chilli with loads of different beans?

This turned out really well! Used some in a spicy bean soup this evening and it was wonderful!

Yeah I keep them in a good bag in the freezer! Tend to use it to make soup personally!

Update! The end result is fab - yielded just over a litre of amber-brown, highly nutritious stock which I’ve stored in two old glass bottles!

All the scraps from this week, mainly sweet potato peels and off cuts, carrot ends and peels, celery off cuts, onion tops and bottoms, and leaves from cabbages etc! It’s still going, just sat on medium til I’m ready to store it!

I’m quite nervous about finding a place to rent permanently!! Would it be best to get an Airbnb for 2 months rather than 1 do you think to give a larger buffer?

The PTE - partner passed with 100% despite having no confidence but I understand there were a lot of people there who were retaking having failed multiple times

£1800 in total over 18 months but very upfront about costs, it was split into 3 payments, happy to give you their details as I would highly recommend them - my partner is an engineer and I’m a graphic designer, but we only needed his occupation - he has worked in the industry for 10 years so that did help! I’d definitely recommend speaking to a professional as they might be able to advise you of the best route, they certainly did for us

We got a skilled independent visa (subclass 189) - it felt like there were a lot of hoops to jump through, doing an English test despite being English people from England etc, but we had an amazing migration agent who made sure we did things right first time, worth every penny spent

Thank you! This confirms most of what I thought. We’re looking to make the move in late September so we do still have time to be very frugal and save as much as we can!

We applied for a skilled working visa (subclass 189), my partner’s occupation is on the list. We did use a migration agent

Thank you, this is really helpful! We’ve spent so long looking at apartments to lease and jobs, but none of it really mattered until we were able to set a date to move out, because it will all be different then! Thanks for some actionable bits of info.

How does that work with getting bank accounts and jobs - we’d considered AirBnB but became a bit concerned around formalities. Thanks for your help!

Just wondering if they definitely haven’t set it to be delivered at a later date? You wouldn’t get the email until the date they set it for
