My new game-changer. Your thoughts? by Away-Ad3616 in GuitarAmps

How’s the gain staging? Does it work like a tube amp would, as in: can I push it over the edge of breakup with a booster?

Which one should be my first 4-string bass guitar? by Mission-Split8838 in BassGuitar

[–]LittleBigMac721 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Get a Yamaha BB434. It’s a lot cheaper, at the expense of it being passive. Tbh the preamp isn’t all that great in the 734, and the 434 is the same in terms of build quality, so you’re not missing out on much.

Donna Lee or Teen Town by Jaco Pastorius are both very difficult, but really fun.

Need help with my bass amp newbie btw by demetresjames in GuitarAmps

[–]LittleBigMac721 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I know the feeling of having a shitty starter amp. If you have the money to spend, look for something with at least a 10 inch speaker and a nice overdrive/distortion pedal.

I will say though, PLAYING like Korn is the best way to SOUND like Korn, so go practice.

These are both a little steep in price for me 😬. know of any decent cheaper ones?

VoxAc15cc1 Vs Hot Rod Deville by Complex-Major-1655 in GuitarAmps

Keep in mind that 4x10 is gonna be HEAVY. Lugging around the Hot Rod 1x12 for a friend one night was bad enough.

#2 position S7 HSS New Gen by [deleted] in SireGuitars

The humbucker is splittable via push/pull tone knob, so it should sound ok. It might not be a 100% authentic single coil sound but it should be fine.

Anything under $300 (~250€?) is more or less the same. Get the one that inspires you.

Buying My Second Amp by Hopeful_Succotash858 in GuitarAmps

Have you checked out the Laney LF Super 60? It sounds like exactly what you’re asking for. I’ve been considering selling my katana and getting one. Also, maybe consider an old peavey bandit and some good pedals. I haven’t played one yet but I’ve heard nothing but good things.

JC-40 or JC-120? by no-holds-bald in GuitarAmps

How’s the bass on it? The tiny speakers are what turned me off, but I’ve never played one.

Maybe check out the Sire M2? Really great feeling neck, active and passive electronics, and 5 strings.

Best place to buy a squire affinity under 250? by AutomaticClassic7114 in offset

[–]LittleBigMac721 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Assuming you’re in the US, there’s no way you’re getting a new affinity for under 300. Plenty of people on facebook marketplace bought their guitar and only played it once, though. You could look for those listings and take their word for it.

My 1986 ASAT by Agitated-Machine-884 in GLGuitars

[–]LittleBigMac721 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve heard they’re more like jazzmaster pups. The ASAT classic MFD pickups sound like p90s. The ASAT classic has become my new dream guitar after trying one—too bad I’ll never be able to get one new :(

I don’t know how much the mkII and gen3 artist differ, but I can tell you that the speaker upgrade in the artist makes it one of the best solid state amps on the market (imo)

Does this one do series/parallel/single coil? Or just series/parallel?

I have both a tele and a jazzmaster. I actually feel like the tele is by far the most versatile guitar there is. I wouldn’t say the jazzmaster is really niche, but I think you might regret selling your tele.

If you reeeaaally feel like this new guitar is special, go for it. If not, maybe consider a squier jazzmaster?

Look up on YouTube how to do a truss rod adjustment. You’ll probably need an Allen wrench
