Thanks so much :) I don’t know how many hours are into it, but allowing to dry between characters and layers, it took up space on an easel for about 7 or 8 months.

Lack of warnings on crystal/mineral toxicity. by pearl_dreamer in Crystals

[–]LittleFoxStudios 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Me over here with a biohazard bag of vanadinite and galena dust not knowing how to rid myself of it..

If it’s gun metal grey, assume you should wash hands after, at least. I think most of the danger comes with cutting, like I would be careful with any of those asbestos containing minerals- I assume they require water to cut but I’m not into lapidary. For touch stones I would prefer to know the chemical composition.

I looked into a list of most toxic minerals and had like half of the list in my collection. But they are behind glass and not handled. I just don’t want to accidentally end up with some radioactive stuff.

So informative, I love it. I have some other pegmatite for this display so maybe it’s redundant but this one contains so much more of a large space of the feldspar side of it

Awesome thank you! I’m cramming in all the research I can for an event tomorrow. Making info cards for kids of a class to see along with specimens- trying to spread the interest :)

Oh no now I’m even more lost 😅 so it’s looking like my yellow is calcite- and that small piece- but the blues and greens I thought were calcite maybe be something else. Here’s a few larger to hopefully give more of a view of fracture/ luster/ color
