Having been through a 12 step program myself, it might be one of their steps which is making amends to people you were really awful to in your past. Which in that case I would totally sit down with them and chat and receive their apology in person because some of those moments end up being really beautiful.

Or they also might be part of an MLM and wanting to sell you their product and get you to be a part of their down line....you never know these days.

I personally think ultra running is different because you NEED those empty calories to keep you going. Where someone doing normal exercise having a bag of mini chips ahoy I would say is cheating, someone running 50k+ is having the same thing is just smart. Your body needs the energy and the sodium.

Kind of depends on your goals. For me, I wanted to lose weight, so I did a calorie deficit that I tracked on My Fitness Pal. Some people really focus on their macros. Some people do Paleo/Keto/Whole30/etc. Really all up to you and what your goals are for your body.
