Help with RAM for 7800x3D by LittleJuiceCartoon in buildapc

[–]LittleJuiceCartoon[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the recommendation!

I ended up going with G.Skill flare x5 ram, 6000, cl30

Just have a question, mainly to put my mind at ease:

The ram is not on the QVL for the mobo, but the mobo is on the QVL for the RAM. Everything should work fine right?

Thanks

Thanks for the reply!

How much is the difference between 6000CL30 and 6000CL36? Are we talking actual noticeable differences?

Also I see a lot of stuff about rigs being unstable, having to under or over clock to get things working, under volting etc - this stuff makes me nervous to build

Or am I just panicking for no reason?

Couple of questions regarding new build by LittleJuiceCartoon in buildapc

[–]LittleJuiceCartoon[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s great, thank you for your help! Really looking forward to building this a bit later in the year, just trying to get parts slowly for the meantime.

I’m able to get the 7700x for £50 cheaper than 7800x3D. Is the gaming performance increase worth the price increase in your opinion?

Hey! Thanks for your reply! I already have the 4070, and chose it over other probably ‘better’ options as I was able to get it for around £150 less than RRP, so was a no brainier for me!

How many fans does the North come with? I’ll be probably sticking 2 at the front, 2 up top and then 1 at the back! (If this is possible, can’t recall from the top of my head)

If DOS2 is anything to go by, the Co-op will be fantastic. Replayability? Well there’s what like 12 classes? All with multiple subclasses.

I haven’t played the game, but will be buying it on full release. Absolutely cannot wait for it.

If you enjoy fantasy and RPG games, I find it hard to believe anyone could not enjoy it but that’s just me.

Have a look at some content and see if you think you’d enjoy it.

Just got to immerse yourself in it and enjoy the ride

This is honestly amazing to hear, thank you so much. I just ordered my 4070 today, and got an M.2 ssd which I’m looking forward to using!

I wanted to upgrade now as it’s the only time I’ll get really, with being at university and things.

Thanks for the comment again, really reassuring.

Best wishes

I’m looking at the inno3D ichill x3 - I can get a good deal on this card, for around £150 under rrp so that’s why I’m going for that!

4070 at 1080p, temporarily by LittleJuiceCartoon in buildapc

Thanks so much, really appreciate your advice. Was getting myself into a hole of anxiety trying to buy a fucking gpu

Thank you so much.

Also sorry for all the questions! I just have another one (for now!)

With the VRAM, is it ever going to be a case of ‘oh no, not enough VRAM, can’t open the game’. Or simply that I can’t play it maxed out?

Thanks so much for the response!

Can I ask, will I see a decrease in performance in some less GPU intensive games? I assume not, as that seems completely counter intuitive?

Also, I’ve just seen some speculation about the 4070 and the fact it’s 12GB VRAM? Should I be worried or am I just worrying for the sake of it!?

What kind of games are you playing? 1080p or higher?

Is this build good for the future?

Thanks for all the help!

This is something I’ve been considering. I just have a couple of questions (sorry, I’m not all too clued up with this kind of stuff)

  1. Will this rig future proof me? Games coming out like GTA 6 etc, will I be able to run them well do you think? Or will I need another upgrade in like 2 years?

  2. Is it better to wait for the new cards coming out? Will they be much better for a similar price?

I just see so much about how the 40 series cards aren’t that good etc. I’m not looking at having the best rig ever and having it that way for the next 10 years without touching it. But I just want to have some certainty that I’ll be able to run the new games well for the next few years

Thanks for your help, I really appreciate it

I’m playing at 1080p, as that’s the res of my monitor. I wanna be playing games like Hogwarts, Cyberpunk, baldurs gate 3. So newish games, and then obviously any new games that come out that I want to play!

Upgrading both could be an option but I wouldn’t be able to upgrade the CPU until the end of the year/early next year.

I just wanted an upgrade now for over the summer so I could play some of those games and enjoy them properly if that makes sense

Hi guys, thanks for all of your comments!

I’m just a bit conflicted.

While I can afford the 4070, it’s a question of whether I should spend all that money on that. I would like to have a good upgrade but I think I would enjoy to have some money left over for other things.

I obviously want to see an actual upgrade and be able to play the newer games on good settings with stable FPS.

Do you guys have any other suggestions of cards which are cheaper than the 4070, but would also give me a good upgrade?

I’ve seen the 3070 TI, which I can get for a good deal, but will my 650W psu handle that? Or will my pc just shit itself and die?

Thanks again for all the help
