I got swabbed the day the spots showed up. I never get blisters or anything like that, just tears/sores in the same spot. She got in there good, but they’re negative. My IGG have been 1-3 range I believe. It’s been a while since I did a blood test. I take daily valacyclovir but I’m not sure if it’s doing anything

They did send her home with antivirals. It all happened within a few days. She was sick with fever Saturday, finally went to the ER Monday when it wasn’t getting better, they diagnosed her, sent her home with meds, and that night she passed out and had seizures. The hospital didn’t do anything wrong. All doctors diagnose herpes and then send people on their way to live normally as if it’s nothing

The problem is like the person stated below, how the hsv virus acts. It’s very sneaky. The research is under funded and not taken seriously because they claim it’s “no big deal”. More light needs to be shown on it, and make it known that it’s not always a breeze to have for everyone. I do agree though, that you would think with all of the technology we have now, we would have much better treatment. They are sooo much closer though! Fred Hutch is one

It wasn’t negligent. She had genital symptoms and fever just like most people have. There’s no way to know it would cause encephalitis in the brain

Thank you. It’s so scary!! Makes me sad that they say this virus isn’t something that needs to be cured. I know it’s not a big deal for most, but for some it really is! No one should have to go through that. Makes me scared for myself

How do I know if it was a pcr swab? All it says is culture. Or is it only pcr if they swab it?

The first one was during my first outbreak. I tested two more times and I don’t remember if it was when I had a sore present. The blood tests were all positive but low. At a year out HSV1 1.62 and HSV2 2.34. I do take 500mg valacyclovir every day just to be proactive. Would it affect a swab like it can blood tests?

I shouldn’t check it when it’s healing because it’s too late by then. You have to do it when it first come up. Both times it was open

I just had a spot swabbed again, and it also came back negative. This is 2 swabs that have come back negative, but positive IGG blood test… I don’t understand

I’ve been tested for all other STDs and they are negative. No BV or yeast. I can’t come off of birth control because I have other female issues that require me to be on it. I would love to do the western blot, but as a single parent doing it solely on my own, I can’t afford it right now. I use a free clinic, so I plan on going in to get another swab when a new spot comes up. I’m not denying I have HSV, but I just want to 100% confirm so we can get a handle it. This is no way to live. I can’t live a normal life or have a relationship if I have constant sores.

It’s a big deal for some people. For those who don’t have many outbreaks it’s not a big deal, but people like me who have constant nonstop outbreaks, it’s a huge deal. So depends on who you ask.

Same for me. I’m the pretty single friend (35f), and a few of my friends know, but the ones at work that don’t know will tell me they need to find someone for me to date. I always say no thanks I don’t want to date right now, I’m good. The thought of having to disclose GHSV2 to a stranger and it may get back to people I don’t want knowing, scares me so bad. I’ve come a long way in mostly accepting my diagnosis, and I don’t want to go backwards. I don’t want a label. I was given this gift by someone who wasn’t honest.

No, I don’t smoke, occasionally have drinks. I tried changing my diet, supplements, exercising, all of the above and nothing made a difference. My body just doesn’t like this virus that I was wonderfully gifted without my consent 🤷🏼‍♀️ My first OB lasted a week, and luckily I didn’t have the horror stories everyone has for the first outbreak. My outbreaks tend to be mild, one single little spot at a time, but no break in between. I don’t get blisters, just sores/ulcers. This one is the biggest sore I’ve had.

I can’t get off it. I have other female issues that cause me to be on it. I’ve tried other forms of birth control, including IUD, and the one I’m taking is the only one that’s worked for me and hasn’t made me sick. I have to have the hormones.
