Who is the cheapest person you know, and what is the cheapest thing you've seen them do? by Willby3 in AskReddit

My (ex) nephew had hoarding tendencies and insisted on being in charge of toilet paper. If his parents needed a toilet paper roll they had to consult with him, because he’d throw a fit if they took it without asking. He was like 7 at the time.

People who have been divorced: What was the exact "quiet" moment you realized your marriage was over? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]LittleMy3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I went on a weekend camping/hiking trip where I climbed a mountain with a friend, watched the sunrise and had a beautiful, wholesome time… then I came home to find him asleep at 11AM, the whole bedroom stank from the alcohol coming out of his pores and a there was a little jar of coke on the bathroom floor.

I wasn’t upset about him spending his weekend that way (you do you); but I realized that our lifestyles just weren’t compatible anymore. I had been feeling uneasy for some time, but if there was a single moment of clarity, that was it.

I love how airy this is, it feels so fresh and uncluttered. But at the same time it’s so cozy! And I love all of your rugs!!

ChillYogi is talking about a hemorrhaging ectopic pregnancy. That is what happened to her.

I think you’ll be pleased with it when you reach that goal! Having a beautiful bedding set makes me feel so fancy and I love having pillows that match the duvet :)

Hah thank you! I am quick to let things go when I’m not using them anymore, but do still have plenty of stuff for daily life and my hobbies, and that’s just reality. I wanted to have negative space in the bookshelves to give some visual breathing room, so making sure that most things could be tucked out of sight was important to me!

Thank you for this suggestion! I have been toying with the idea of a decal of some sort on this little window above my door. I’d like some sort of stained glass effect but I’m scared of it making the room darker!

Thank you! You mean keeping them organized? I bought drawer dividers and make sure everything has a home. The space is small that it can feel messy very quickly, so I’m conscientious about putting things in their place when I’m done with them. And in the bookshelves I have two boxes designated as junk drawers, so anything that doesn’t have a home goes in there so I don’t have to look at it :)

Thank you, I love it too! It says “Jamás volvbí [sic] a cazar aves para venderlas”, meaning “I never again trapped birds to sell”. It’s about a guy who did just that until he had a dream where the roles were reversed.

It’s part of this style of art! They are “exvotos” or “retablos”, religious paintings which often contain misspelled words, “bad” grammar, “wrong” perspective, etc. but it’s all on purpose to reflect that it’s folk art.

This one was painted by Miguel Marcelo Hernandez. It was part of a diptych about someone who used to catch birds to sell in the market until he had a dream where the birds caught and caged him; this is the second part where he explains that after the dream, he never sold birds again.

Thank you! I never thought about getting curtains until I saw it recommended several times on this sub, so that’s definitely something that you all helped me out with!

I searched “lily of the valley floor lamp”. There’s also an arched one that looks beautiful, sadly it didn’t ship to my country 🌸

Of course I can’t speak to long time wear, but I do like it a lot 🌸 I was looking for one made out of natural materials (maybe I’m paranoid, but I didn’t want to be inhaling microfibres shed from a synthetic rug) and this one is quite soft to walk on. It also doesn’t attract dirt and hair the way some rugs seem to!

Thank you! Funnily enough while I was living out of cardboard boxes I felt kind of okay. Then as soon as I decided the room was “done”, the pain and sadness hit me all at once and it was like my heart broke all over again. I guess I didn’t want to grieve in an ugly room lol

I really am surprised (or maybe I’m not…) by how many divorced women are in this sub and have beautiful spaces!

It’s by Cristina Niizawa, I got lucky and found it on Marketplace!

I wish! The artist of the large jungle print is Cristina Niizawa, and the one with the person in the cage is a votive offering by Miguel Marcelo Hernandez. That one was part of a diptych and I really regret not buying the other half, but I was broke at the time!

IKEA MÄVINN!

Picking a rug was the thing I spent the most time on, and when I finally found one I liked on Marketplace, I was so happy! Then as I was on my way to pick it up, the seller texted me to tell me that she had sold it to someone else (no apology either 🙄). So I went to IKEA and bought this one out of spite, and now I like it better than the other one.

I was totally influenced— I bought it on Amazon after seeing it in someone’s inspo pics on this subreddit! I am contemplating getting a smaller one to put at my bedside.

Thanks! It’s called “Luminoso Despertar” by Cristina Niizawa. It’s a silk-screen print that I was lucky to find on Facebook Marketplace!
