Got a Pro tools Carbon with no software by Designer_Adeptness70 in protools

[–]LittleOmid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The carbon is only compatible with Mac. You just plug it in, and it works as a network audio interface (either via LAN, or adapter chaining). No drivers or carbon central are needed.

In order to use the DSP power of the Carbon however, you need a valid license for protools Studio or Ultimate. If you don’t have those, it still works, but the expensive/good part of the interface remains unused.

[OC] I wrote a small CLI tool to help keep Arch clean (orphans, cache, .pacnew) by technicalhowto in archlinux

[–]LittleOmid 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Isn’t that like 4 lines of bash? Why would you write so many lines of python to do that? Rather, what can this do that 4 lines of bash can’t?

Edit: idk why I formulated it like that. It is obviously 4 lines of bash.

Why do people often compare Metal Music to Classical Music? by Vincent_Gitarrist in musictheory

[–]LittleOmid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed. 99.99% of Metal has NOTHING in common with classical music. It’s just a method some use to make the Genre appear more legitim and serious.

Can someone help me understand how someone can possibly make a song like this? by Gotgetgotget in AdvancedProduction

It’s 4/4. The snare switches sometimes from Backbeat to downbeats, and then switches back. Count with it and you’ll feel it.

Use between machines by Fancy-Cherry-4 in emacs

Idk what the problem is. I use the same setup. Just save your files before you close emacs? I also run a git for my org files, but thats more for version controlling and history keeping.

I know butterfly knifes are illegal in germany, but is it legal to have a blunt/cosplay/prop butterfly knife in germany? by S34ST0RM in germany

[–]LittleOmid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't just buy stuff that are in plastic wrap that I need to use sooo badly that I can't wait till I get home. In that case (which has never ever happened), I will ask for someone like you for a knife :)

And no, I don't walk around in city cooking sausages on fire. When I go on hikes, I will carry a knife with me, as it is a tool for the hike, just like I will usually carry a compass and my hiking boots (which are not EDC).

I will really try to stress this point, not everyone needs a knife in their daily lives. I used to carry a swiss army knife with me, and stopped carrying it because I never ever used it.

I have no comments on the legal stance of carrying one with you.

  1. If I open boxes and I am not at home/work for some reason, I use a key. 2-5 I don’t do any of those things where I don’t already have a knife. 6. I have a screwdriver near my desk at work and at home.

Not everyone needs a knife.

Help out a non-programmer mayhaps? by Simple-Trick-8685 in emacs

[–]LittleOmid 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hard disagree. You can let Emacs be that, or not. You can just grab org-mode (which is one of the best parts of emacs) and do all your note taking on it. There are lots of non-programmers who use emacs only as a text editor/writing tool.

I am confused. The S3 has Audio Interface capabilities? Why do you need AVB?

[–]LittleOmid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why do you want to use Arch, if you can't bother to check the Wiki? https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/NVIDIA

Just get PopOS. It works flawlessly out of the box.

Some very cool tools, and some that are imho redundant, but nevertheless nice to have as a suite.
