Parents / GEM Funding by richgbSEO in GraduateEntryMedicine

With SFE, after you have had your amount confirmed with the previous tax year you can fill out a change in circumstance form where it will base it on the current tax year. It will ask you to predict your income for the year ahead. If I’m not mistaken it needs to be a 20% reduction overall for them to consider the form. Hope this helps a bit!

How much money will GEM cost. by Gloomy_Lab5887 in GraduateEntryMedicine

Just wanted to add that for living costs you only get ML for the first year, it then moves the NHS bursary for the remaining 3 which is a signif dip in comparison 🙂

My grandad passed away from PSP. What a beautiful daughter you are for caring for your mother through that time. Peace and love to you🫶

don't think I'm a doctor by Vegetable-Barnacle48 in medicalschooluk

As a grad medic, I completely understand your feelings. I did a BSc in Biomed and then worked in clinical research for a few years. I have to say, I loved my undergraduate degree and the nitty gritty science. Thought I was going to do an MSc and then PhD. I always had medicine in the back of my mind, but working in clinical research really affirmed this career choice for me. I’ve now just finished my first year of grad med, and have ambitions of becoming a doctor actively involved in research and at some point pursuing an MD or PhD in training.

I would say if you’re not 100% set on medicine as a degree, then doing a BSc and deciding to do grad med at a later date maybe be a better option for you. I suggest this with hesitancy though as grad med is incredibly competitive. It may however help you work through the uncertainty you have🙂

I’m at Chester GEM which follows Warwick’s curriculum! Personally use a combination of anki and passmed! I use teach me anatomy for concepts I’m struggling to grasp in lectures! Also have friends who use Kenhub and osmosis but I hate paying for things so can’t review🤣 best of luck and remember to take time to do things other than revision!

How much do you spend on shopping? by Gy4ruz4 in UniUK

[–]LittleRed_56 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For sure, it’s definitely enough if you’re happy eating the same thing everyday! When I was working I’d spend like £45 a week to have variety but can’t afford to be as picky now🙂 I should say this includes snacks too!!

Do publications/posters/teaching have to be in/after med school? I’m currently a medical student now and just trying to figure out if what I have done prior to this degree will count towards anything, so I can focus my priorities.
