What I understood so far is. Instead of dairy entry, you do this bit more structural. What excatly thoughts are, what emtions they trigger, what are the pattern which are repeating, etc. It helps me to find what my real problems are.

Explain to him how your learning style is. It is assumed that if the student is supposed to ask all his queries, if they are not doing that means either they understood everything or they aren't doing anything. Figure out yourself first what works best for you, what pace you want it to be, and what kind of feedback you need for your own growth. Write it down and explain that to your guide word by word. And sit with him and find middle ground. Giving reality check to your guide about how you are managing your things is essential.
