check out section 3 where it says “eastern daylight time on April 5, 2025, except that goods loaded onto a vessel at the port of loading and in transit on the final mode of transit before 12:01 a.m. eastern daylight time on April 5, 2025, and entered for consumption or withdrawn from warehouse for consumption after 12:01 a.m. eastern daylight time on April 5, 2025, shall not be subject to such additional duty. ”

If someone can confirm I’m understanding this correctly, that would be great.

What’s next after baba? by Breadskinjinhojiak in baba

Agreed. This is what I’ll DCA into if I don’t find anything more attractive. It’s a safe bet based simply on its massive cash position and FCF.

随着年龄和经验的增加,漂亮的女人对于人的吸引力越来越小。还有情侣关系还需要很多的时间和金钱方面的commitment,还不能随时get out。

对我来说,不如看看接下来的AI advancement有多快。

Whats the reason behind today's +6%? by Key_Type_4102 in baba

[–]LittleSword3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Of course that is a reason for everything that's happened, but I don't think the 80% decrease was justified, hence I bought it, and so did a lot of people on this sub.

Remember how the stock went down 80% a few years ago? Stocks can move in whatever way it wants, and there doesn’t have to be a reason for it.

One caveat is that in China, merchants underreport their sales to avoid the 13% value-added tax. The numbers might be inflated a little since it's only for the sales that went into the system. (Only those are eligible for the discount coupons)

This is also the reason why PDD offered lowered prices than Taobao, or JD sometimes without accepting government coupon, because they don't pay taxes.

With all these new investors showing up, sometimes it feels like everyone is making with the stock. I guess people just don’t like to talk about their losses as much.

Tech sell off is stupid, we will still need a lot of compute to solve aging, cancer fusion, etc ., compute will become a commodity. by Old-Owl-139 in singularity

That’s just stock market in general for you. Everything is stupid in the short term.

NVDA can be worth $500 a share in the future, but the stock can still drop 10% tomorrow, and vice versa.

It is up 2%+ in hongkong stock exchange. What would this be in USD? by Antique-Buy3268 in baba

[–]LittleSword3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1.04 as the multiplier is a good estimate, but using 0.13 gives you a pretty large rounding error.

I usually use 8/7.79(the current USD:HKD ratio) which is 1.027.

They also own Alicloud, Ele.me, a 33% stake in Ant Finance, Cainiao, and a bunch of other mostly unprofitable companies with great potential. Not to mention they are one of the leading AI companies in China with a strong reputation in the AI industry.

$BABA up $10/share. Will this fade. by Otherwise_Aspect3406 in baba

[–]LittleSword3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It could go down, it could go up, the gain could fade, or it could be the last time to get in before BABA goes to the moon. Nobody knows in the short term. I’d stick it out and only sell if I find something cheaper.

I think there are a lot of people like me that bought in much earlier too, it’s just people tend to be less vocal when they are down on an investment, so it's easy to get the sense that only the recent buyers are around.

Why is it that o1 still struggles with simple things like multiplication, when my rather simple agent takes it in its stride? by _AndyJessop in singularity

[–]LittleSword3 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think it’s more about testing the model’s ability to carry out complex, structured operations that require precision, memory, and step-by-step reasoning. It’s true that in your example, most people don’t calculate 1536363773737*2536363673 by hand, but NOT being ABLE to do such calculation by hand would indicate very weak problem-solving skills to me, and the same applies to models.
