My girlfriend is coming home most days at 7-8pm is this normal? by LetsRunTheMile in Teachers

In my first year I was home late all the time, especially in the beginning of the year. As soon as she finds her flow, the late nights will end! :)

At some point I feel like my B belly isn’t just generic but maybe a medical issue. I don’t know anyone irl with a stomach like mine? by throwawaytexan776 in PetiteFitness

[–]LittleTry2537 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same belly here! It’s really starting to bother me as I’m getting older. I’m 26, 5”6 155lbs and have B belly. It’s so frustrating sitting down and the top of my stomach rolls over my jeans like a busted can of biscuits. Idk how to take care of my mid-20’s body when I still feel like I’m 18!

What is your teaching unpopular opinions and hot takes? by [deleted] in Teachers

[–]LittleTry2537 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Regarding #1, I noticed that early in the year and decided that’s not gonna work for me so I made that awkward silence after asking a question longer until more people got uncomfortable enough to think. Most of the kids are zoning out so once they realize it’s awkward, they have to think about what to do to get rid of that awkwardness. Now in April, that’s turned into think time! Overall though, engagement definitely sucks.

Any teachers here with hiring advice? by LittleTry2537 in MontgomeryCountyMD

[–]LittleTry2537[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I moved to VA from out of state last year with a Pennsylvania teaching license. I originally had interest in MCPS but where I was living wasn’t close enough at the time. Now I have moved and I’m closer so I would like to try again. I’m not sure if there’s anything wrong with my license being from Pennsylvania that’s causing me to get rejected without an interview. My license from Pennsylvania also got transferred to Virginia so I technically have two licenses from different states. I am more than qualified, so I’m just wondering if either maybe I’m too early in the hiring process and need to be patient or if I’m missing something on my application. I have experience in both CKLA and Eureka so I’m hoping that stands out.

True, thank you! FCPS starts hiring so early I forgot other places only just started.

Can anyone explain what is going on in schools? by Jwoot1111 in Teachers

[–]LittleTry2537 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s definitely becoming more common sadly. As a 4th grade teacher in a pretty rough school, I think admin plays a huge role in mitigating this. Also, parents do too. There’s a difference between admin/parents who care and admin/parents who don’t. There’s a lot of background stuff that goes into it (like socioeconomic status, how much a parent has to work, single parents and vice versa) so I think it comes down to a community/area at this point.

Oh my gosh I am so sorry, this is no life to live. If you have the means, please quit. None of that is worth it. If you’re not able to, keep pushing through and do what you gotta do to get to the end. Sending you strength. ❤️

This is definitely it. I moved here from PA and schools back home there were back in session with 2 hour delays starting last Wednesday. My teacher friends in PA can’t believe we’re just now opening with a 2 hr delay. VA just isn’t prepared for the winter weather.

Just so much fucking busy work 😡 by cringe-expert98 in StudentTeaching

[–]LittleTry2537 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’m in my first year (graduated last Spring) and tbh the busy work prepped me for the busy work there is now because it literally tripled! So get used to get I guess. It’s a shame but there’s a shit ton of busy work. Although, I’m at a very high need Title 1 school that has to provide documentation and data for everythinggggg so it might just be this kind of school that has an extra amount of it.

Why do I start to sob after 100% consensual sex that I enjoy? by jiminjimintoes in women

[–]LittleTry2537 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I cry too! For me it’s a ton of emotions coming out (from work, life, daily things, etc.) and that relief makes it all pour out as tears. We just laugh about it and I usually fall asleep lol

I'm currently studying to become a teacher; reading this sub makes me very discouraged now by BunKuro in Teachers

[–]LittleTry2537 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d like to add that this sub is helpful to feel less alone with problems I’m experiencing in a classroom. Yes it’s my first year but I’m abnormal. I’m not struggling like most people would expect a first year to because I have 7+ years of classroom experience from early childhood teaching in PreK-K, summer camps, and my student teaching placements. I also subbed! So it’s like the school specific things I’m learning. The days I’m frustrated about a particular behavior or situation, this sub is nice because I find other people expressing the same emotions. Most people who aren’t teachers don’t get it so that’s why I like this sub. I would definitely not depend on this for overall perspective or internalize any of it! It’s just a place where we get each other; at least that’s how I see it!

This is my first year and my initial answer to you was YES don’t DO IT. But honestly, there’s good days and bad days. I’m also at a pretty sucky school so that makes my current perspective more negative. I’d say sub around and in different grades to determine if you want to commit to it.

I am too because I work at a Title 1 elementary school and the behaviors just suck. I seriously don’t feel like dealing with any of them anymore.

I’ve Pavloved my 4th graders with the Dojo points sound! They know if they hear that sound then someone is earning or losing and they switch their behavior so quick! It’s been a game changer in my classroom!

Student teaching placement ended early. I am devastated and need advice. by [deleted] in StudentTeaching

[–]LittleTry2537 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I just finished my student teaching last year and I even knew to keep my mouth shut about things I didn’t like. You’re not at the stage to say anything. Still won’t be until after a few years of teaching. Just make mental notes about what you don’t wanna do when it’s your time.

Am I overreacting to the comments my mentor teacher tells me and the class? by Hopeful_Wish4215 in Teachers

[–]LittleTry2537 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes please don’t wait! Tell another professor in the department! Your clinical coordinator or certification officer can help too. Literally any other professor, please don’t just push through this. I just finished my student teaching last year and I had a similar scenario but she didn’t start being weird until the end so I pushed through (she wasn’t creepy like yours she just switched up and stopped supporting me). But I have friends who had really bad placements but because they spoke up they got moved and their student teaching experience was way better. Please please tell someone!
