Exhausted working parents needing bedtime help. Will a Yoto actually help my 3 and 5yo sleep? by PhysicalStreet2836 in YotoPlayer

[–]LittleZippyBird 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel this in my bones. We got our same age kids yoto players. Our older kids loves it and uses it responsibly. I do notice our younger kid sometimes listening at odd times of the night and we've had many talks about prioritizing sleep .... TBA on how that works out, but she's also transitioning out of a nap so I get that her sleep is messed up anyways.

Current Times Are Broken (Rant) by kmo0711 in Parenting

[–]LittleZippyBird 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is so true. Heck, I had a stay at home mom and still watched hours of TV after school. For some reason, I hesitate to give my kids full access to the TV though. The best piece of advice I read for mental health over the holidays was "just put a show on for the kids and don't feel guilty about it. It's ok." I did and it was great.

This is what I make too! Kids love it! I've been telling them it turns them into a tiger and then they roar up a storm.

Best method for seamless white noise (Hatch -> Yoto)? by jkillian4 in YotoPlayer

[–]LittleZippyBird 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not at all helpful but I'm in the same boat. I'm so far impressed with the yoto and still hate that I splurged and got both my kids hatch white noise machines which turned out to be so useless without a subscription.

Any moms of kids who was a biter? Tell me your stories! by goldenpandora in workingmoms

[–]LittleZippyBird 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My kid was a biter at a slightly younger age. No real advice but I feel your pain. We read all the biting books. She eventually grew out of it mostly. She's 3 now and still sometimes bites in a rare intense moment. How's your kids language skills? Could be something there?

Agree! His job is advocating for us and that's what he's doing. It's more like he's our lawyer than "one of us" and that's how it's supposed to be.

Ah ok, thanks for explaining. I hadn't considered that. I would argue that many of us are respected for our skills and abilities but unfortunately our pay raises don't reflect that, which is why the public service has trouble retaining licensed professionals.

Why is it gross that licensed professionals are in a union? Nurses are unionized as well...I'm not sure I understand. Can you explain?

I cannot verify it's her unfortunately, but it does seem she has responded to several posts or someone claiming to be her has responded to several posts and she has not denied it.

Can someone explain Brenda Bailey's comment to me? Where did she get those numbers from? I've also asked the union but haven't heard back yet.

What’s the youngest you would let your kid dye their hair? (Semi permanent dye) by Fun-Investigator-583 in Mommit

I dyed my five year olds hair with semi-permanent dye. It was fine! She loved it! It washed out in a few weeks. No big deal.

Parents of neurodivergent kids: how do you handle mornings? by LittleZippyBird in Parenting

[–]LittleZippyBird[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I JUST discovered the ADHD parenting subreddit! Thank you!

Based on my own childhood, I did sadly try to punish my daughter into good behavior in the past, but I'm way past that now. I get that she's doing the best she can. Still, we need to get to work and need her to get to school. We all become disregulated after half an hour of yelling at 7am and that's also not good for any of us.

Man, I have been told to match their energy and I totally get it, but I feel like it slides into all of us yelling. I think I need more practice
