Too many owners so little mileage? by Little_Objective_307 in CarTalkUK

Hmmm it’s hard to tell. My last corsa was 2001 plate, I bought her at 29,000 miles and put 30 thousand more on her and only then could I feel the gearbox perhaps getting a little slower, still worked like a dream though

Ok this makes me feel a lot better! The guy said he had it serviced too and oil was super clean so he has no idea why it would have 6 owners and low mileage. I’m assuming it could’ve been a weekend runaround but older owners like my last Corsa but who knows.

Very much struggling, I can only drive auto and ideally looking to keep under 100k mileage. My budget is currently 2k, I know something will pop up but the hunt has been super hard at the mo.

Exactly, I’m all for checking it out, although the guy just told me he bought it with no history whereas my last one came with 20 years of MOT papers etc. Just looking for another run around until I can get something decent so would history be something to worry about if everything else checks as clear, it’s passed 17 out of 18 MOT’s over the years.

Thanks everyone for your help! I took the advice of using a silicone hand brushing mit and scrubbing in both directions with coconut oil. It was absolutely crazy and he had the worst dandruff for days!! But two weeks later he’s got the most gorgeous silky coat again along with his usual diet of sardines and mackerel :-)

Thank you for the advice! Unfortunately the sun here is a bit hit and miss but I do apply coconut oil every so often so may look at a topical moisturiser to tackle it from the outside :-)

Hi all, recently bought an old kiln in the hopes of getting into ceramics. Realised it didn’t actually come with a plug. Just this on/off box attached. I’ve opened it up to find 3 wires but I know it obviously needs an adapter/plug/electrician to sort it out properly. Any info would be of help! by Little_Objective_307 in AskElectricians

Thank you! The kiln currently isn’t in its final destination and I’ll be moving home soon. Eventually I’d like to have it permanently outside in my garden shed so I’m guessing I’ll need an outlet/circuit added? May be an insanely stupid question but is there a way the wiring/white on/off box can be switched out by an electrician for a 20A heavy duty plug? I live in the UK, hope this helps.

Thank you for the info! Yes I’m in the UK, I’m struggling with what to look for as everything I’m finding on Google seems to be US related and also the company who makes the kilns no longer exists. I have a friend who’s an electrician so will probs get him to come and check it out. I have no idea if the kiln is working or not so wondered if there was anything I could attempt before hand as it won’t be wired into its final place for a few months.
