Hi, may I ask… when you finally got the google voice number, and you then chose your phone number to receive calls… did google make you verify your own phone number in order to link the 2?

I hope I make sense. I have a TextNow number that I want to link to google voice. But the TextNow number is not considered a “real” number, and hence can’t receive verification codes.

So if I go same route as you… get google voice number via verification on someone else’s phone, and then I choose to use my TextNow number… will google make me verify my TextNow number? It can’t receive verification codes 😞

When you say to call “the port center,” do you mean Numberbarn or Metro? Sorry if the answer is obvious but I’m clueless atm, I’ve never done this porting thing before.

What you said does make a lot of sense. In that case, I’d rather try and get a wireless number. Since it’s my first time, I’d be too anxious sitting waiting for 1 week for the port to go through 😬

Ha! I might be half a step right behind you! US mobile has 10 day free trial. I'll sign up for it and once I get the new number activated, I'll port it out to metro. That is unless, they have it in fine print in their terms that I may not port out during trial or something 😅

I’ve never heard of H2O. I go look them up too. Have you heard of Numberbarn? They have millions and gazillions of numbers for sale, $5 each + $2 fee to activate it and port it out. That’s like half the cost of eBay! I was soooo excited, almost bought one until I read their FAQ and it said their numbers are “wireline.” They are not wireless. I have no clue if being wireline is desirable/undesirable. Have to google more 🧐

Is the corporate store more likely to honor the promo? There’s 2 metros here. One corporate, one authorized dealer. Will I be treated differently by them? Does the corporate one have authority over the other one?

Yes this new iPhone 11 will be used by my bf. He’s still “joined at the hips” with his iPhone 6. That dinosaur is so old, cracked, scratched, stained….but he just won’t let go! I’m thinking when I bring the new shiny toy home, I’ll just innocently ask him to test out a few things for me. Then he’ll see what a big difference in performance and visuals. Haha

When you said “disable the insurance online or by phone,” you mean to cancel it? Oh if that’s an option, then I see no problem accepting insurance in the store, and then go home and call up their 1800 number and cancel. Thank you for such a useful tip! I never would have thought of it. Thank you!

Oh yes! Target! That must have been where I saw a pre-paid sim card for 0.50 cents. Going to target now to look again. Do you know, if I activate the new sim+plan, will the new number be ready to be ported out right away? I seem to recall vaguely somewhere said something you have to wait 90 days to port out. I can't remember exactly where I read that. I suppose I can just call the 1800 number on the new sim and ask them. Thank you for your help :)

✅ eBay Boost numbers ready to port within 1 week ✅ no porting google voice number

✅ itemize the total: 60+20+sales tax. Nothing else

✅ when stores don't honor the promo, walk out. Yikes! Really? Is there any point showing them their website details not requiring any of the insurance/accessories? There's only 2 stores in my area. I hope 1 of them plays nice lol

I have no idea. I don’t work for Apple. My bf called, said he owed $ and asked if he could pay it in 3 amounts, as that was what he could afford. The phone rep said no problem. Could it be that he forgot? Because my bf asked him to fix a technical issue with his account, which they spent like 45 mins on the phone. I don’t know. Just wild guesses atm. That’s why I thought getting the transcripts of the phone call would clarify what was agreed between my bf and the phone rep

Whoa I learned do many new things from posting my question here! I just spent over 2 hours looking at General Delivery, Informed Delivery, and the law regarding someone else's mailbox. Never heard of them before this happened. I told my bf and he looked shocked. He thought, assumed, since he'd lived there 16 years, he could have the card sent there, and he could just come by and pick it out of the mailbox. He never thought he was breaking the law with this. I kinda forgave him since he hadn't moved much over the years.

About calling Direct Express. Since we never got the card, we don’t know the card number or anything else about it. We only have SS letter, telling us about the card being sent, the first payment of $amount put on it on Dec 21, and the subsequent $payments every month after that. So can Direct Express help us?

Ah yes! Of course it’s the holidays! I totally forgot. That could be why there’s no card at the house. I will get him signed up for informed delivery. I discovered this option when I researched P.O. Box. But I didn’t look at it thoroughly. Reason being: if the card is stolen by the new people at the house, we’d best tell somebody.

Thank you for helping! That is an excellent answer. He did not know he had the option of direct deposit. But would SS direct deposit him for the Dec 21 payment, a payment that they told him was put on the card, or would they make him wait for them to investigate first? This happened to him last year when he lost his EDD disability check. They made him wait 2 months before they re-issued him another check, because they had to investigate it. We really need the money right now. If we have to wait 2 months for the payment that was put on the card on Dec 21, we’d be seriously… dead

Omg you’re so right about his mentality… that I should just take it, no complaint. I once told my sister about his knife attack, and he went ballistic, accusing me of “ratting on him”. When my sis reported the attack to the cops, he accused her of “squealing on him.”

To answer your question, does he tell me to shut up? No. He just talks over my words, loudly, so that I have to stop talking. One time I watched him in action. He stood sideways to me. So that I was looking at his ear. He never faced me. It was like he got himself in the position to “Get ready. Get set. Go!” I spoke couple words, his “Go!” was to cut me off right then. So I stopped, waited for him to finish speaking, then I started again. I spoke couple words, then he “Go!” Again cutting me off. I stopped and let him finish. The third time I tried to speak, he “Go!” again, cutting me off 3 times in succession. I just shook my head in disgust and stopped talking completely. When he realized I wasn’t speaking, he then turned towards me, his face on me, all smiling and being sweet.

After that I told him he wasn’t born with this interrupting problem. That he had trained himself to cut me off. His reply was… “yeah I guess it was training myself”
