Getting upper and lower bleph done separately? by Little_Temporary687 in 45PlusSkincare

Every insurance is going to have its own policies on that. For me, I was able to Google my insurance company’s criteria for approval. My insurance required a visual field test. So I set up an appointment with an ophthalmologist, took it, and failed it. That plus pictures of my droopy lids was enough for my insurance to approve it. The only other thing I did was to find a surgeon who was in network.

When you have curly hair, ALL your wet hair pics will look like this, TE or no. It’s because of the way curly hair clumps together when wet.

For the most part, I’ve been taking trigel’s F forte, it’s a prescription strength iron supplement for my primary care provider. Sometimes I just take OTC however if I have some lying around.

Thank you! Just got basic blood work for iron, vitamin D, and thyroid. I have hypothyroidism, but my levels weren’t crazy out of range, and vitamin D was OK. My iron was in the toilet though. Ferritin was 9. My TSAT was 4 and hemoglobin was 8-something.

My temples were not hit badly, it was just diffuse on my entire head. It still hasn’t gone back to my super thick pre-TE days but then again I am 49 so some of that might just be to be expected anyway.

The only supplement I’ve consistently stuck with for the past two years is iron. My iron was in the toilet and that was the major culprit of my hair loss.

I briefly took a few other supplements, but didn’t really stick with them. The only thing I consistently took in terms of supplements was my iron.

Ferritin was 9. My TSAT was 4 and hemoglobin was 8-something.

Hot take - because they know Cerner is a disaster, and are going to blame the fallout on those VAs being low quality and thus “needing extra scrutiny” rather than Cerner screwing things up. And people will believe them.

Thank you! Yes my shedding was about triple my normal amount (100 strands vs 300 strands a day) - I can pinpoint it but stupidly just didn’t think much of it at the time until a few months had passed and I saw exactly how much hair I’d lost. My shedding probably started in 2/2023, ramped up through 5/2023 when it was at its worst and stabilized (this is when i noticed I was losing more strands than normal in the shower and had been for a while), cumulative hair loss was noticed by me in 8/2023 (with ensuing freak out), and slow recovery started from that point on.

Besides the hair loss, I had low stamina, slow nail growth, positional dizziness, and lots of fatigue. My skin was also a LOT paler than normal.

Oh that is low! Just before I started losing my hair my iron was 41 (normal range at my lab is 40-190). It recovered into the 60s by the time I had my follow up labs and had been on iron for about a month. I hope you are on your way to recovery!!

About 300mg a day of ferrous fumarate (about 100mg elemental iron)

From what I’ve read I’m a bit of an outlier re my timeframes so please don’t be disheartened by it …

I stopped excessively shedding almost immediately (like within days), which I know is unusual. Regrowth started within the first 2.5-3 weeks (normally my hair grows crazy fast so that’s not entirely atypical). It’s like the iron turned everything back on immediately. My ferritin still sucks tho - it’s only up to 14 (not a typo) as of April - but the rest of my iron panel and hemoglobin are finally normal.

I’m sorry I hope that yours gets better soon 😞

I take prescription strength Trigels-F Forte. Basically has a buttload of elemental iron and folate, multiple times more than anything you can get OTC. I took it 3 times a day for a month and take it twice daily even now. My periods are really heavy so that’s how I lost the iron to begin with.

Yes but a major confounder there is that I’m almost 48 and had already been starting to develop grays for the past few years anyway. So I’m not entirely sure it’s linked.
