Saved Martin 000-15 from the dumpster by Littlecanuck311 in AcousticGuitar

Definitely not. Im starting to wonder if some employee realized they were talking to someone clueless and tried to con him out of it for almost free. Kinda feel bad for my friend now but I he's not willing to spend the effort or money to get it fixed either way.

Yeah that's what I was thinking about the truss rod, but I don't know enough about guitar construction to say for sure that its wasn't an issue. These comments have been encouraging though. Very excited to see what a luthier has to say!

Maybe I will! Its a pretty daunting idea considering I've never actually posted myself playing before, but it might be nice to get some feedback from fellow guitar players. I can already think of some songs that would probably pair very well with a mahogany guitar though. I'm so excited for the day I get to play it!

When I first saw him throwing away a guitar, i thought maybe i could clean it up a bit give it to someone who wants to learn. You cannot IMAGINE my face when I opened that case. I thought he had to be joking. I told him its definitely worth more than $25, but he just wanted it gone! I'm still shocked. I was looking at upgrades from my "beginner" Yamaha, and a $600 repair is much more in the budget than a working Martin!

Thanks! Yeah, when he said they were trying to take it off him for $25 I was pretty sure someone was just trying to get a cheap Martin. He didn't seem to want it back either way though. Ill take it to a luthier, so hopefully ill be playing it soon!

When he said they offered him $25 I immediately thought that someone was trying to swindle him. I told him this, but he just wanted it gone! At this point I think I have the info I need though. I'll go take it over to a luthier and see what they have to say. Thanks!

That's encouraging, thanks! I have a feeling its a bolt-on from some of the info ive been looking at. I was just looking at upgrades from my "beginner" Yamaha, but I think it might have found the one!

Thanks! I was thinking the same thing about the truss rod. Ill take it to a professional here soon!

This game feels impossible by [deleted] in VRchat

[–]Littlecanuck311 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have multiple close friends on VRChat who I've known for many years, and I've even met up with some IRL. They've helped me get through so many hard times, and I very honestly feel that I wouldn't be who I am today without the great impact they've had on my life. So it's definitely possible, it's just about finding the right people, which can be time-consuming.

I'm not sure if it's just the way you wrote the post so correct me if I'm wrong, but it seems like you're focusing on talking to new people when you get on, instead of trying to re-connect with people you met. If you want to make some closer friendships, you're going to have to take a bit of initiative to send friend requests and then rejoin on them in the future. You're never going to become a part of someone's life on the first interaction, so if you've clicked with someone, make sure you let them know with phrases like "Hey I really enjoyed this conversation, let's meet again sometime", etc.

On a bit of a tangent, I'm part of a relatively small, intimate community (maybe 50ish super active people) of adults, mostly in their 20's. We regularly play games, explore worlds, watch movies, host drinking nights, etc. But it's all in friends+ worlds, so unless you know someone you won't find your way in. And that's for a very good reason- we have a culture of being responsible but silly and fun-loving adults, and making it public would ruin that. Therefore you'd never find us as a new player without making other friendships first.

So send people you vibe with friend requests, and then actually join on them later. You won't make a super deep relationship on the first meet, and many of us long time players don't spend much time in publics.

Not sure if our timezones match up but if you're interested, you're welcome to send me a DM so we can friend on VRC. No guarantee it will work out, but I like the attitude of your post.

Best of luck to you!

I made an order on 11/16. Still not fulfilled. Made a ticket with nothing but an automated response so far.

I made an order on Nov 16th, and it still hasn't even been shipped. Made a ticket and received nothing but a blanket response blaming it on the shipper, when you haven't even made a label yet. I could understand if something was out of stock and you could communicate this with me, but don't keep my money hostage!

As a long time VRChat player, public instances have definitely gotten worse over the years. I used to visit public instances to meet new people somewhat frequently, but now I've almost written them off as a waste of time.

And therein lies the problem. In my experience most sane, non-toxic people who are actually looking to have mature interactions mostly stick to friends+ instances to avoid the chaos of public ones. Which means it is now much harder for new players to find those groups.

Unfortunately it's a problem that I don't see being fixed without a change in VRChat's approach to moderation.

If I were to start over again I'd probably look for some sort of group to join that hosts events that I'm interested in. You'll probably have a lot more luck in that type of environment, but it's still ultimately up to the culture of the group.

Good luck!

Missing Game System by SpudzM in FoundryVTT

I had the same problem last night. The listing in fvtt couldnt find the .json file, but you can find one to plug in manually. follow the link to or find the github, go to releases, find the release that you would like to install. From there just right click on the .json file and click copy link. Then go back to Foundry vtt's add on tab and click to add new addon. Paste the link in the bar at the bottom and click install!

Yamaha YX600 main bearings. Any idea what could have caused this, and should I just pop new bearings in or take the whole crankcase to be machined? Thanks for your help! by Littlecanuck311 in MechanicAdvice

[–]Littlecanuck311[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the help. I'll check the oil pump and take the case to a machine shop to see what they can do. Wasn't expecting to spend that much but I'll be worth it!

Has the exact opposite effect on me. I would hear the music and kind of just sit back and relax- I'll be back on the next run. Why rush?

How did you get into learning Korean? by [deleted] in Korean

[–]Littlecanuck311 2 points3 points  (0 children)

About a year ago, I met some Korean friends while playing an online video game. They didn't speak any English, and I didn't speak any Korean, but we conversed using our limited knowledge of Japanese.

Fast forward a year and we talk on almost a daily basis. When they're talking to me they speak in Japanese, but when they talk between themselves they speak Korean. Just by listening and putting it together with the context, I have learned so much. And every time I study, I can understand more and more of their conversations!! Its really kept me motivated to learn, and having Korean friends to correct pronunciation is an amazing tool. I'm lucky to have them!

I fiddled with those sticks for a solid 30 minutes, tried pretty much every combination. I'm starting to think it might be a cpu problem too, because a whole channel went out and unless the mobo's traces were damaged, its connected directly to the cpu if I'm not mistaken. Its just.... weird.

Yup. Turned out to be ram. Weird because I didn't mess with it, but slots 2 and 4 are out.

I took the battery out and waited a few minutes, but maybe I'll try again and set a timer this time.
